Gregg Westling Skrevet September 12, 2011 Del Skrevet September 12, 2011 I received this info on Lars Paulsen (GGF) but cannot seem to be able to find his parents in any of the census that I've looked in. Can anyone please help? Yes, there is a farm called "Viksvangen" in the 1900 census for Nannestad. --------- I found a record of Lars Paulsen from Vigsvangen, leaving the parish of Nannestad on 31 May 1881. #25 Source information: Akershus county, Bjørke in Nannestad, Parish register (official) nr. III 1 (1881-1892), Emigration records 1881-1882, page 151. Permanent pagelink: http://www.arkivverket.no/URN:kb_read?idx_kildeid=532&id... --------- Getting closer...... here is the confirmation record for Lars Paulsen. This proves he was in the parish of Nannestad by 1875. It conirms the names of his parents and gives an exact date of birth. I have problems with the writing, maybe someone who is better than me can read the exact place of birth. #42 Confirmed in Nannastad 11 October 1874 Lars Paulsen Born 23 March 1860 Father: Paul Kristoffersen Mother: Elen Marie Kristoffersdatter Source information: Akershus county, Nannestad, Parish register (official) nr. Gregg Westling Skrevet September 13, 2011 Forfatter Del Skrevet September 13, 2011 I'm trying to find out about Paul and Elen. First is it Paul or Paal. Is it Kristofferson or Christoffersen? When were they married, who were their Parents, why can I not seem to find them in any census years? Were there other brothers and sisters? Gregg Westling Skrevet September 13, 2011 Forfatter Del Skrevet September 13, 2011 You have been so helpful and kind. I wish I could read Norwegian, bur then there's the problem of old style penmanship. Could I ask you to see if Johan ever registered for immigration to America. In America he used the surname Rye which I hope cane from the farm name. I know that somewhere in my searching I ran across a record that someone left Christiania on 10 Aug 1882- Arrived in NY 30 Aug 1882 on the ship "Geiser" of the Thingvalla Line. It seem that the NY immigration records for that period were destroyed in a fire. Lenke til kommentar Del på andre sider

Gregg Westling Skrevet September 15, 2011 Forfatter Del Skrevet September 15, 2011 If the “Rasmussen” was a bad lead, I am very sorry for your time. There was a strong Family oral history that the family name was Rasmussen. In America the family went by Rye and in a couple lists John appears as John R. Rye. That was why I was searching for a Johan Rasmussen from a farm “Rye”. Most record of John/Johan agree on birth about 1856 and immigrant about 1882. His wife’s name is another problem. She appears as Oline/Olina/Lena/Lina. Some of their childrens Minnesota Death Records list her surname as Johnson which is probably Amerikanized. She was born in Norway about 1860/61 and seemed to have immigrated about 1881. It seems that most of the immigration records for NY from 1880-1900 were destroyed by a fire. This is the John I am searching https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.1.2/9XMC-2ND/p_504488346 https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.1.2/9VS8-7QR/p_108180380 https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.1.2/1YSR-4H4/p_26963315 Here is one that shows his fathers name as John Rye. https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.1.2/M6LZ-FNG/p1 I apoligize that these references did not copy as links.
