Øystein emigrerte til USA, og ved skiftet etter faren i 1922 er han kalt Austen Selland og bosatt i Minnesota

 

Han var ifølge familien i Norge ugift og bodde sine siste år i Seattle, USA. Øystein er kanskje død i perioden mellom 1960-1975
