Eg har i dag ei ny kjempeutfordring å by på, som eg står heilt fast på:

 

Harold Johan HENDRICKSEN, fødd i New York City, NY 25.1.1886 av foreldre Erik Johan "John" Henriksen frå Frovåg i Tranøy, Troms (1858-1926) og kona Johanna Johannesdotter av reisande slekt frå Solvorn i Hafslo (1863-1949), døydde i Chicago, IL 20.5.1946.

 

Han var gift først to gongar i South Dakota med den same jenta, Essie M. Ellis (1893-1954), men dei vart endeleg skilde i 1917, og Harold gifte seg att i Sioux Falls, SD 15.6.1918 med:

 

Anna C(hristine?) AMBLE, fødd i Kossuth Co., IA ?.10.1894 av foreldre Edward Ludvig AMBLE, fødd i Vik i Sogn 8.9.1862, døydde i Aurora, IL 25.1.1940 og kona Karen "Carrie" Johnson (Urness), fødd i Faribault Co., MN 20.3.1869, døydde i Kossuth Co., IA 7.1.1898.

 

Harold og Anna Hendricksen flytte til Chicago, IL der Harold livnærte seg som målar.  Han døydde i Chicago, IL 20.5.1946 og ligg gravlagd i ei einskildgrav (utan kone) i Chicago, IL.  Anna levde att som enkje, og lagnaden hennar er heilt ukjend!  Dei fekk ikkje born i lag, og ikkje hadde Harold born med første kona heller.

 

Tre store utfordringar ligg her føre:

For det første er det heilt sikkert "vår" Anna som vart konfirmert i Bricelyn, Faribault Co., MN i 1912.  Dette var fødestaden til mor hennar, og det er svært sannsynleg at Anna delvis kan ha vore oppali hjå skyldfolki til mori etter at mori døydde so tidleg!

 

Når det gjeld fødestaden til Anna Amble, Buffalo Center, IA, so ligg denne byen på grensa mellom Kossuth og Winnebago Cos., IA, men på austsida av grensa i Winnebago Co., IA, men bustaden deira var i Limcoln township på vestsida av nemnde grense, i Kossuth Co., IA.

 

Fødselsdatoen til Harold J. Hendricksen er oppgjeven med ulike datoar i ulike kjelder, men etter at du no har finne "Social Security Applications and Claims Index" for Harold med datoen 19.1.1886, vil eg endra datoen min til dette.  Dødsattesten har ogso 19.1.1886 som fødselsdato.  Om eg ikkje hugsar feil, kjem datoen 25.1.1886 frå fødselsattesten hans i New York City, NY og ogso frå "family records"...

 

Nettopp denne "Social Security Applications and Claims Index" var ei overraskande kjelde som må vera heilt ny hjå ancestry.com.  Eg har ikkje sett denne kjelda før, og særleg spennande er det å lesa at:

 

"Type of Claim" er "Death Claim" og vidare under "Notes" datoen 29 Jul 1977!

 

Kan denne datoen kanskje vera ein dødsdato for Anna Hendricksen??  Kva meiner de?

 

Eg kan forresten leggja til følgjande:  Anna Amble Hendricken hadde ein bror Emil John Amble som døydde i Sioux Falls, SD 8.12.1969.  Kanskje ein "obituary" kan finnast for denne karen?  Kanskje Anna framleis var i live då Emil døydde?  Om ho verkeleg døydde i 1977, vil jo det vera tilfelle...!?

Fant ingen obit på Emil.Men fant obit  på sønnen Elmer.Hvis hun levde i 1977,burde vel Elmer med familie ha visst om henne?

Kanskje noen av Elmer sine barn har opplysninger?

 

 

Yngste sønnen til Emil Amble var f omkring 1936,og lever vel kanskje.

Redfield - Elmer Frank Amble, 85, of Redfield, S.D., died Tuesday, Aug. 8, 2006, at Beverly Healthcare Center in Redfield. His memorial service will be Saturday, Aug. 12, 2006, at 1 p.m. at George Boom Funeral Home, Sioux Falls. Reverend Dennis Tranberg will officiate. Burial will be in Hills of Rest Cemetery, Sioux Falls.

Elmer was born Nov. 19, 1920, to Emil and Lois (Walker) Amble at Sioux Falls, and graduated from Washington High School. Following graduation, he enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1943. Following Army Air Corps Pilot training, he flew 32 combat missions in England as a B-24 pilot with the 8th Air Force, 392nd Bomber Group. He was awarded the Air Medal and Distinguished Flying Cross. He completed his service assigned to the Air Transport Command delivering aircraft in the continental U.S., to the South Pacific, and Australia. He often told of flying a B-24 under the Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco.

On Jan. 2, 1945, he married Doris Olsen (Sioux Falls) at Redwood City, Calif. Following the war, he returned to Sioux Falls working at Morrell's and attending Sioux Falls College. Elmer and Doris moved to Vermillion where he graduated from USD with an accounting degree. In 1954, Elmer joined Gage Brothers Concrete Products in Sioux Falls and was shortly thereafter assigned as manager of the Gage Brothers ready mix and concrete products plant in Aberdeen, a position he held until retirement in 1990, with over 35 years with the company.

The family moved to Aberdeen in 1956. Elmer and Doris were avid golfers and members of the original Aberdeen Country Club, especially enjoying weekly twilight golf events and league golf. He scored several holes-in-one. Plinking gophers on the golf course from his golf cart was a favorite pastime. He also enjoyed fishing, duck, goose and pheasant hunting and deer hunting with bow and arrow.

Elmer was a member of the First Baptist Church in Aberdeen and was active with the Aberdeen Lions, Moose, Elks and American Legion Clubs. He served for a time on the Aberdeen sidewalk commission. Elmer was active in ready mix and concrete products trade industry activities, including serving as president of the S.D. Ready Mixed Concrete Association.

Prior to relocating to Redfield and the Beverly Healthcare Center in late 2002, Elmer enjoyed spending time at the Aberdeen Senior Center and especially enjoyed volunteer service delivering Meals on Wheels to other seniors. He was named an Aberdeen American News Volunteer of the Week in January 1998 for his Meals on Wheels service. He enjoyed rehashing stories with his golfing buddies.

Elmer is survived by his daughter, Mary Boots of Redfield; two sons, Marty of Denver, Colo., and Greg of Sioux Falls; six grandchildren, and one brother, Ed Amble of Grants Pass, Ore.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Doris; his parents; and three brothers, Bob, Cliff and Wilber In lieu of flowers the family wishes donation be made in honor of Elmer to either the Alzheimer's unit at Beverly Healthcare, the Aberdeen Seniors Center or the Children's Home Society in Sioux Falls.

Hjarteleg takk til Ann-Mary for nytt spennande innlegg!

 

Eg tok sjansen på å ringja den einaste attlevande broren til Elmer Amble.  Han var svært interessert i å vita kvar han ætta ifrå, men det var fint lite han kunne fortelja om ætti!

 

Kring 1953 hadde han vore i Chicago, IL på gjennomreise med ein av dei eldre brørne sine, og dei hadde vitja tanta Anna Hendricksen, men han gav uttrykk for at Anna ikkje var særleg "sosialt" anlagd, og han høyrde sidan aldri noko meir om ho.  Han hadde heller ikkje nokon obituary for faren Emil, so det var ikkje mykje hjelp å få der...

 

So førebels står me "på staden kvil"...

 

Men eg takkar på ny for all god hjelp so langt!
