Hello,

My great great grand father immigrated to the United States from Norway in about 1902.  I would really like to find more information about he and his parents or siblings.  His name is Christian Jacobsen, he was born 27 Apr 1883 in Larvik, Norway.  His mother & father are listed as Jakob/Jakab and Severine Olsen/Olson on the Church marriage record.

 

My great great grand mother immigrated to the United States from Norway in about 1908.  I would really like to find more information about her and her parents or siblings.  Her name is Carrie Rullo/Rolla/Rollo.  She was born in Mar of 1886. Her mother & father are listed as Arne and Anna Rolla/Rullo/Rollo on the Church marriage record.

 

They were married in Everett, Washington (USA) 16 Jul 1910.  They lived in and had their children in Portland, Oregon (USA).

 

I have tried numerous searches in the Digital Archives for the 1885 and 1900 Census + baptism records and turned up nothing. But, perhaps I am not utilizing the search functions correctly.  Any tips or pointers would be greatly appreciated.

Wow!  This is great!  May I ask, are there any Census records for Hans Kristian Olsen w/ his parents Jakob & Severine Olsen?  Any advice for which search boxes are best to fill out, when looking for him (could help with further searches for his siblings)?

This forum is wonderful, thank you for all of your help! Because of your direction, I'm seeing that wild card * and ? searches come in quite handy!

 

On the Rolla side -- Karen "Carrie" Arnesdatter Rolla (1886-1971)... I found that her brother Kristen "Christ" Arnesen Rolla (1872-1956) immigrated before Carrie -- about 1893. His immigration paperwork shows that he went to a cousin in Washburn, Wisconsin. In looking for members of the Rolla family in that area, I came across Oluf Kristiansen Rolla (1837-1916). I am wondering if he was Arne's (Carrie's father) brother... Yes, it's the 1865 census with Arne & Oluf together that had me thinking that they might be brothers... It just seems strange that on the birth/baptism record - the father's name is the same, but mother's is different. Arne's was listed as Anne Olsdatter, and Oluf's was listed as Anne Christoffersdatter...
