Denne Leon skal ifølgje ei gamal ættesoge for Ausen-ætti frå Hafslo (utgjevi kring 1970) ha gift seg "about Feb. 1, 1910" med Sadie Mathilde Ausen, fødd i Buffalo Co., WI 31.3.1892 som eldste dotter av Ingebrigt "Bert" O. Ausen (Aasen) frå garden Åsen i Hafslo (1861-1936).

 

Ifølgje same kjelde skal Leon vera fødd i Eau Claire, WI kring 1888, og han skal vera avliden i El Paso,TX "prior to 1918"!  Paret fekk ingen born i lag.

 

Eg finn ikkje nokon Leon Goodwin fødd i Eau Claire, WI eller andre stader i Wisconsin kring 1888, og heller ikkje kan eg sjå at nokon Leon Goodwin er nemnd i dødsregisteret for El Paso Co., TX, eller andre stader i Texas, mellom 1916 og 1921!  Eg finn han heller ikkje avliden i California i dette tidsrommet.

 

Sadie var enkje då ho 30.9.1921 gifte seg att i Los Angeles, CA med Edward William BORTON, ôg kjend som Edward TRUEWORTHY, ein fråskild skodespelar ("moving pictures character man"), fødd i Lyon Co., KS 21.9.1890.

 

Eg står heilt fast når det gjeld denne Leon C. Goodwin, kven han var og kvar han vart av, so alle gode tips vert mottekne med stor takksemd!

My Uncle John Laughlin Goodwin was born c.1854 in Marlboro County, SC,

his family migrated to Hinds County, MS. He died in 1894 in Homochito

Plantation in Issaquena County , MS. He married Lelia Lafayette ______

and they had 4 children Ethel, Leon, Irma/Erma and Leon. She was on the

census in 1900 in Mayersville [called Fatia Rogan there] as head of

household, a hotel keeper and married 4 years. She had children Irma and

Leon Goodwin living with her and sons Charly and Marvin Rogan ages 3 and

1 respectively. More information was given in the probate records of

John L. Goodwin's father on the Goodwin children.

Isaac D. HARTZOG b. May 1841 MS was on the census in 1900 in

Mayersville, Issquena Co. with wife CELESTE born Aug 1845 SC and

children John G. b. Nov. 1867 and wife Virginia E. In 1880 census they

had children Annie [i found married George Herrington, they had a son

Earle in 1900], other children Laurin [male] and Isaac along with John G.

CELESTE maiden name was GOODWIN, a sister to JOHN LAUGHLIN

GOODWIN above. I know she died between 1900 and 1905 according to their

father's probate records.

I would appreciate any information on any of these people and

information on the plantations location.

Det er berre eitt ord som er dekkande for dei opplysningane som her er framkomne om Leon Clair Goodwin:  FANTASTISK!  Ein kjempetakk til Ann-Mary og Sven for ein berre heilt utruleg dugnad for å finna opplysningar om Leon Goodwin.  Eg har fått so å seia alt eg kan ønskja meg!

 

Det einaste som manglar er nøyaktig dato og stad for vigsli til Leon og Sadie, men den vert truleg ganske so vanskeleg å komma på spor etter.  Korleis Sadie er hamna i Mississippi i 1910 (med oppgjeven fødestad Mississippi!) er ogso heilt uforståeleg, men FT1910 fortel oss at dei hadde gift seg siste året, so 1.2.1910 er kanskje ikkje so langt unna sanningi!

 

Nok ein gigantisk takk.  Eg er meir enn imponert!
