Mateas and Karin are parents of:

1) Menz Mattias Mattsson

born 29 November 1875 Brandvald, Norway

died date unknown

Emigrated to USA around 1900 and worked in Agate, Bisbee, North Dakota around 1902-1905

 

2) Wilhelmina Mattson

born 8 November 1879 Vitsand, Varmland, Sweden

died 4 December 1968 Minnesota, USA

Emigrated to USA 1904

married Ole Johannesen Lystadberget (born Kongsvinger) and lived in Agate, Bisbee, North Dakota

father born, 30 June 1825 and mother born 21 Aug 1822. They came from Grue in Norway 1852. She was born in Fagernes in Vingrom (Oppland). Married 10 Apr 1853. His mother was Lisbeth Persdatter and her parents Mattis Olsen and Lisabeth Andersdatter.

siblings to Mathias: Andrine 1 Jan 1860, Olava 10 Dec 1861, Olle 20 Nov 1863, Maria 6 Jul 1865. Their mother Anna Marit Mathisdotter died 27 Nov 1873.

 

Mathias Mathsson and Karin Pehrsdotter with children Mons Mathias b. 29 Nov 1875, Johan Richard b. 7 Feb 1878 and Wilhelmina moved from Øyern in Brandvald in Norway 22 Apr 1877 to Lekvattnet.

Augusta Maria married in Norway 10 Apr 1904.

Johan Richard Mathsson married Anna Karolina Forsberg (b. 1 Apr 1888) 22 Dec 1907. They got Ester Amalia 12 Apr 1908, Ragnar Mathias 18 Dec 1909, Erik Gustaf 8 Apr 1911, Carl August 10 Jun 1912. All in Lekvattnet.

 

Mentz Mathias came home from America 14 Dec 1906 and got a son 11 Nov 1907: Ragnar Mauritz Mentzson.  (Lekvattnet AIIa:2 1906-1913 page 104).

Thank you very  much! This is all very interesting - many more emigrants than I knew about. Now I can look on this side to check for those connections and see what happenned to Beda.

 

As a general question, do you know who would have issued the warning to Matthias (father) about the bad upbringing and not going to school? Would that be town authorities or school authorities?  I think it is interesting because it comes a few months after his wife died.

Olava christened her son in Grue Church 8 Jul 1888, he was born 15 May 1888. The father was Sigvard Olsen Stensbøl i Brandval, born 1860. They were not married.
