Tusen takk for svar Ann-Mary og Egil! 🙂 👍 Her er det så mye informasjon at jeg blir helt forvirret! En plass står det at Maud heter Herrington til etternavn, en annen plass står det at faren heter Olaf Staff, at hun var født i Norge 29 mars 1878 og født i mars 1878 i North Dakota og emigrerte i 1880.

Kan det være at hun ble adoptert og tok etternavnet til sine adoptivforeldre, Herrington? Hvis hun ble født 29 mars 1878 i Norge, burde hun vel være døpt her også? Og foreldrene gift i Norge? Burde vel også finne de emigrert fra Norge? Er fortsatt forvirret!

I en mindre OBIT står det at han har 1 adoptert datter (intet navn), og det er det eneste jeg har funnet hvor ordet adoptert er nevnt.

 

R D Herrington ble forøvrig "gal" på sine eldre dager og ble innlagt på mental institusjon i 1905.

Her er kopi av North Dakota naturalization og der var ikke mye opplysninger, men den viser at han ankom New York i mai 1880 og at han var født i 1846! Ole Nilsen Staff var født 17 aug 1846! Så det er nok "min" Ole Staff!! 🙂

Finner ingen med navnet Staff som ankommer i 1880, men det finnes en Ole Nilsen som ankom i juli 1880. Ingen Johanna og Maud J. dog - men han kan jo ha reist alene først....
