Eleanor Sorenson Quackenbush Eleanor Sorenson Quackenbush, 89, a former Madison resident died June 24, 2007 at The Palms at Park Place in Kissimmee. , She was born Dec. 3, - 1917 in BouckvXlle, the daughter of Philip and Anna Bermer Sorenson. She was a graduate of Madison Central. School and earned her Registered Nursing Degree at Syracuse University Hospital of the Good Shepard. On April 5, 1940 she married Gien Quackenbush. Glen, and Eleanor originated and operated Quack's Diner from 1947 to 1973. She was a member of the Augusta Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star. She will be most remembered by her friends as the best ''Pie Maker/7 around. She is survived by a daughter, Linda White of Highlands, NC and a son Phillip Quackenbush of Kissimmee, FL, two sisters-inlaw, Leora Sorenson of Chittenango and Norma Lowe of Merrietta, Ga., 12 grandchildren, 11 greatgrandchildren and two greatgreat-grandchildren. Several nieces, nephews and their families survive Eleanor. Her beloved husband, Glen, predeceased Eleanor. Grayeside funeral services were Monday, July 2 at the Madison Cemetery with the Rev. Raymond Lighthall officiating. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted, to the Paul Funeral Home of Madison.

Leora "Lee" Sorenson, 97 of Chittenango passed away Saturday at University Hospital. Born and raised in Cazenovia, Lee was a resident of Chittenango since 1951. A graduate of the Syracuse University School of Nursing, Lee was a Registered Nurse for 40 years retiring from the Oneida City Hospital. She was a member of the Neowahga Chapter # 419 of the Order of the Eastern Star. An avid sports fan, Lee was a shareholder in the Syracuse Chiefs. She was predeceased by her husband, Harold in 1991; and her daughter, Marlee Shafer in 2013.

Surviving are her daughter, Nancy Eckhardt (Richard) of Reston, Virginia; her granddaughters, Beth Heller and Danielle Eckhardt; her great-grandchildren, Mary, Leora and Will; and several nieces and nephews.

Memorial services will be 11 a.m., Saturday at the Ayer & Zimmer Funeral Home, 38 Sullivan St. Cazenovia. Burial will follow in Evergreen Cemetery, Cazenovia. Calling hours will be 6 to 8 p.m., Friday at the funeral home with Eastern Star services at 7:45 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Chittenango-Bridgeport Dollars for Scholars, Chittenango High School, 150 W. Genesee St. Chittenango, NY 13037 c/o Sean Hayden or a favorite charity .

Margaret "Marlee" (Sorenson) Shafer

Obituary Condolences

Margaret Marlee Sorenson Shafer, on Tuesday, April 30, 2013 of Gaithersburg, MD after a long battle with ovarian cancer.

She is survived by her beloved mother, Leora Sorenson, of Chittenango, NY; her loving daughter and son-in-law, Beth and Alan Heller; sister and brother-in-law, Nancy and Richard Eckhardt; cherished grandchildren, Mary, Leora and Will; niece, Danielle; and other cousins and relatives.

Marlee graduated from Chittenango High School, SUNY Albany and taught in Montgomery County, MD Public Schools for over 30 years.

A Celebration of Life service will be held in Derwood, MD on Wednesday, May 8, 2013. Interment will be in Cazenovia, NY.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in her name to the National Ovarian Cancer Coalition or the Montgomery County, MD, Humane Society.
