Andreas Eriksen was born August 1, 1841 and baptized September 5, 1841 (in Brandval Church ?) in the Grue church records.  I am having some trouble reading the name of the baptismal sponsors.  It says barnets "father"?, followed by Anders Hansen Monsrud and words after his name I do not understand.  Also gm. Arne Larsen Gylterud, gm Inger Hansdatter Monsrud, Marthe Eriksdatter Hogset.  I am wondering if somebody could help me with translating the words?  Thank you so much!

Hello, Clark

- this is not an answer to your question...  But I wonder if you are related to him... Andreas Eriksen, born Kvernbakken. (He had six siblings, as far as I know. And it seems like he was the only that emigrated.)

I am, via his mother's mother. (Distant, but... thouugh.) As you might know; she was a Hakkarainen (Forest Finn tribe) and her mother again was a Hotakka.

And I have a lot of information.

Hope to hear from you.

Sorry my rusty English.

Thank you in advance.

Hi Torunn,

Yes, he was the oldest brother of my great great grandfather whose name was Bernt Erickson in USA.  Bernt seldom used the Smestad last name.  Andreas Eriksen used the surname of Smestad as did their youngest brother, Erik Erickson Smestad.  Their two sisters Martha and Emelia also went to the USA.  The mother Marthe Andersdatter also came to the USA.  I am very happy to hear from you and didn't know about the Forest Finn ancestry in that side of my family.   Thank you so much.  I would be so happy to exchange information on the family.

Kind Regards!

Clark Monson
