Birth:  Apr. 2, 1856, Norway Death:  May 21, 1938 Goldendale Klickitat County Washington, USA The Goldendale Sentinel Goldendale, WA May 23, 1935  PIONEER PASSES - Mrs. Mina Swan, 80, passed away Tuesday afternoon at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Clara Cleman, following a heart attack. She is a pioneer resident of this section having resided here the past 35 years. Five children survive, four daughters and one son. They are: Mrs. Cleman, Mrs. Ray Schuster, Mrs. Tom Conlee, all of Goldendale, Mrs. George Paulsen, Seattle, and Andrew Swan, Goldendale. Services are to be held this afternoon (Thursday) at 2 p.m. from the Chapman Chapel, Rev. R.H. Allen officiating. An obituary will be published next week.  _________________________ The Goldendale Sentinel Goldendale, WA May 30, 1935  MINA SWAN - Mina Holter was born Oslo, Norway, April 2nd, 1856, and passed away Tuesday, May 21st, 1935, at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Clara Clemen in Goldendale, following a heart attack.  At the age of fifteen years she came to the United States with her parents, Jacob and Carry Holter, a sister Lena, and three brothers, Ben, Casper and Christ, the eldest brother Carl having come three years before. The family settled in Blackearth, Wisconsin, and lived there for three years. Mina and sister Lena then went to Chicago where they lived for six years. The parents and her four brothers moved to Yellow Medicine county, Minn., where they bought farms and made their permanent homes.  Mina came to Minnesota in 1880 and lived there for five years. On July 2nd, 1885, she married Charley Swan, a railroad contractor, of Minneapolis, Minn. They continued with railroad construction for three years in the states of Iowa, Wisconsin, Montana, Minnesota, North Dakota and Illinois.  In 1888 they bought a farm near Clarkfield, Minn., with they resided for thirteen years. To this union six children were born. In 1900 the family moved to Washington, buying a farm twelve miles east of Goldendale, where Charles Swan passed away Jan. 9th, 1912.  She leaves to mourn her passing five children: Clara Clemen, Emma Schuster, Lillie Conlee and Andrew Swan, all of Goldendale, and Alma Paulsen, of Seattle; one brother, Casper Holter, of Foley, Minn.; thirteen grandchildren, and a host of friends.  Funeral services were held from the Chapman Chapel, Thursday, May 23rd, at 2 p.m., Rev. R.H. Allen officiating. Hjarteleg takk til Grethe og Stine for nye interessante innlegg!

 

Eg vert stadig meir styrkt i trui på at det er den «rette» Bertine som er funni.  Elles var det svært so nyttig å få eit oversyn over «flyttemønsteret» til denne huslyden etter dei utvandra i 1871.  Dei budde altso først nær Black Earth, Dane Co., WI før dei i 1874 flytte til Minnesota!  Samstundes ser eg òg kvifor Christian og Ingeborg Holter flytte til Goldendale, WA; dei vart nok «lokka» dit av Mina og Charley Swan....

 

Eg ser no på denne utfordringi som løyst, og eg vil nytta høvet til nok ein gong å få takka for fantastisk og imponerande bistand.  De er berre heilt fantastiske!
