GREENACRES, Wash. Norma M. Cooke, a former Wallace and Kellogg resident, died Thursday at Good Samaritan Nursing Care Center at Green Acres. She was 82.

She was born Jan. 17, 1912, at Stouthon, Wis., to Norman and Laura Erickson Nygaard Arneson. The family moved to Kellogg in 1922, where she attended school. She also attended Cheney Teachers College at Cheney, Wash., and Lewiston Normal School, now Lewis-Clark State College.

She taught at Wallace and Kellogg. She married Herman Cooke in 1937. He died in 1983.

She lived at Greenacres for the last several years.

She was active in the National Education Association and the Idaho Education Association.

Survivors include a daughter, Gayle A. Anderberg of Cheney; one brother, Larry Arneson of Kamiah; and five grandchildren.

Visitation will be held from noon to 8 p.m. Sunday at Ball and Dodd Funeral Home South at Spokane. The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Monday, also at Ball and Dodd, with the Rev. Duane Ulleland officiating. Burial will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Greenwood Cemetery at Kellogg.
