Søsken fra Sør-Fron som utvandra til USA (1904)

Den 25. mars 1904 utvandra Ole Olsen Muriteigløkken (født 03/03-1882) og søsteren Karen Olsdatter Muriteigløkken (født 30/04-1887) fra Sør-Fron (Oppland) til Nord-Dakota, via Oslo. Det er også sannsynlig at søsteren Marie (født 1884) og kanskje broren Johan (født 1889) utvandra. 

 

4 andre søsken; Hanna, Ingvald, Olav og Hans ble boende på Sør-Fron. 

 

Jeg har dessverre ikke klart å finne spor fra disse søsknene i USA, utover informasjon om at destinasjonen var Nord-Dakota. De kan ha flyttet til andre stater senere. 

 

Er det noen som har kjennskap til hvor disse søsknene kan ha havnet og evt. om de ble gift?

Corbett Harold NELSON

Corbett Harold Nelson passed away at his Merrill Garden's home in Stanwood, WA on June 30th at age 94. Was born to Harold and Karen Nelson on March 2, 1912 in Seattle, WA. Graduated from Ballard High School in 1931. He studied Forestry at the University of Washington and was active in R.O.T.C. Corbett served his country in the U.S. Army during World War II in communications serving two years in Alaska and also saw action at the Battle of the Bulge in Europe. Worked and retied after 31 years with the U.S. Postal Service. Corbett then worked with Seattle City Light for 10 years as an electrician. Throughout his adult life he had his own business servicing TV's and radios from his home in Ballard, WA. Corbett was a wonderful Norwegian who loved his family and was an avid lover of the outdoors. After retiring, they traveled around the United States including wintering in Arizona. He and his family often visited relatives in his home land, Norway. He enjoyed dancing and music especially playing the piano and accordion at family gatherings. He was known for his dry wit and one-liners. He met the love of his life, Lillian, 70 years ago. They married, had four children, and remained soul mates throughout their lives together. He was predeceased by his son, Gary. He is survived by his wife, Lillian; three children, Christy, Sandra, and Diane; five grandchildren, Ryan, Nathan, Derek, Danielle, and Meagan; and one great grandson, Ethan; and his sister, Margie. Corbett was well loved and respected by those who knew him and his character exemplified the generation to which he belonged, "The Greatest Generation". He was a long time member of Phinney Ridge Lutheran Church and The Sons of Norway. A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, July 7th at Warm Beach Free Methodist Church, 20815 Marine Drive, Stanwood, WA, with a celebration of Corbett's life to follow at 1:00 p.m. Friday, July 7th at Merrill Gardens, 7212 265th St NW, Stanwood, WA 98292. Remembrances may be made to Phinney Ridge Lutheran Church in Seattle or your favorite charity.
