Hei.

[The following abstract is from The History of Barron County, Wisconsin, pages 638/639, published in 1922 by H. C. Cooper, Jr., & Company, Minneapolis, Minnesota.] It reads.......

"Anders G. Strand, was born January 27, 1863 in Norway, the son of Nels P. & Martha A. (Anderson) Strand.

Nels P. Strand was a resident of Sweden and Martha Anderson was a resident of Norway. Both were brought to America by their son, Anders (Andrew) G. Strand, and died here, the father on May 2, 1912, and the mother in 1914. In the family there were eight children: Olena, Anders G., Peter, Paulina, Ida, Matilda, Amelia and one who died in infancy.

Anders G. received his education in Norway and after he came to America he studied English for fifty days in American schools. He began working on the railroads in various locations. In 1882 he came to Rice Lake, Wisconsin and went to work for Knapp, Stout & Company in the hay fields, driving a six yoke ox team in building river “Wing” dams, cooking in the lumber camps, and helping on log drives. In 1884 he purchased a tract of wild land in Doyle Township, cut off the timber and gradually made it into a good farm. In 1910 he moved to Rice Lake, rented the farm to his son Oscar, but later sold it in 1919. Anders bought and sold various farms and at one time owned over 1,100 acres in Barron and Washburn counties.  In 1886 Anders was united in marriage to Belle J. Olson. She was born April 28, 1866 in Spring Prairie, Wisconsin. They were the parents of (12) children as follows:

Oscar born 12 Sep 1886

Norman 27 Jan 1889

Arnold 20 May 1893

Lillian 7 may 1895

Arthur 2 Jul 1897

Anders 27 Feb 1899

Myrtle 16 Jan 1902

Julian 18 Jun 1907

Four other children, Mary, Elmer, and Anders and Bell (twins), named for their parents, died in infancy.

The family resided at 25 West Evans street in Rice Lake."
