Johannes Jenson Tranberg passed away Thursday, March 10, 1932 in the afternoon. Death came suddenly following a cold and weak heart.

In 1870 he came to America and shortly afterward was united in marriage to Sedse "Sina"l Olson Helstad. They settled on a farm in Upper French which continued to be their home for a period of 45 years. 

Seventeen children were born to bless this union, ten of whom are living to mourn the loss of a dear loving father. He was a faithful worker for his family and his church. His memory will be cherished by those near and dear to him. 

He leaves ten children to mourn his loss: 
1. Bernhard "Ben" J (1882-1965) of Alamo, North Dakota, married Clara Knutson and Julia Myrstuen
2. Martin J (1883-1983) of Galesville, married Inga Thompson 
3. Carl John (1889-1968) of Galesville, married Augusta Anderson
4. Selmer, (1886-1963) married Anna Smikrud 
5. Albert (1896-1980) married Anna Anderson
6. Theodore (1902-1990) of blair, married Mathilda Jorgenson
7. Melvin J (1900-1983) of Blair; married Agnes Sesvold
three daughters, 
8. Mrs. Lisa/Lizzie (George) Smikrud and Thomas Herreid (1890-1970)
9. Gina, Mrs. Emil Onsrud (1894-1978) and 
10. Laura, Mrs. Anton Moen (1898-1989) of Ettrick; 
and two daughters-in-law, Ella Thompson Tranberg of Galesville and Louella Anderson Tranberg of Ettrick and 36 grandchildren. 

11. A son Ludwig died in 1931 (1893-1931), he married Luella Anderson
12. A son George died in 1915 (1880-1915) of Galesville he married Ellen Thompson 
13. A daughter Mina Josephine (1891-Jan 1914)
14. A son Oden Julius (8 Aug 1884-4 Dec 1914) 
15. Laura (1885) infant 
16. Theodore T (1889) infant 
17. Peder (1905) infant 

In 1924 he retired from the farm and moved to this village and rented rooms from his daughter and son-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. George Smikrud. 

Funeral services were held Tuesday with services in the French Creek church. Interment was made in the French Creek cemetery. Reprinted from the Ettrick Advance.

Mrs. John Tranberg passed away at the Lutheran hospital at LaCrosse Saturday, August 21, following an illness of five weeks. Five weeks ago Mrs. Tranberg submitted to an operation in which her right limb was amputated in an effort to save her life. All that could be done was done to save her life, but it was of no avail. 

Sedsel Olson was born in Ringsaker, Norway, December 24, 1857 to Ole Larson Helstad and Bertha Simonson Helstad. 

When at the age of fifteen Years. s, she came to America. Several years later she was united in marriage to John Tranberg. 

Seventeen children were born to bless this union, eleven of whom are living to mourn the loss of a kind and gentle mother. She was a faithful worker for her family and her church, and her loss will be keenly felt by those she cherished. She lived a useful life and had an important mission in life which she well performed. 

Besides her husband, she leaves to mourn the following children: 
1. Martin J (1883-1983) and 
2. Carl John (1889-1968)of Galesville; 
3. Selmer (1886-1963) married Anna R Smikrud
4. Albert (1896-1980) married Anna/Emma Anderson
5. Ludwig, (1893-1931) married Luella Anderson, 5 kids
6. Melvin J (1900-1983)
7. Theodore (1902-1990) of Ettrick; and 
8. Ben/Bernhard (1882-1965) of Alamo, North Dakota; (1882-1965) married Clara Knutson and Julia Myrstuen, they adopted Sena C ( ) Evenson Syverson 
9. Lisa/Lizzie, Mrs. George Smikrud (1890-1970) and Thomas Herreid 
10. Gina, Mrs. Emil Onsrud (1894-1978) and 
11. Laura, Mrs. Anton Moen (1898-1989) of Ettrick. 
12. Jorgen/George (1880-1915) 
13. Mina Josephine (1891-Jan 1914) 
14. Odin Julius (1884-4 Dec 1914) was in Williams Co., ND in 1910 burial Trempealeau County
15. Laura Johannes (1885-30 Nov 1885)

In memory of their mother, the husband and children contributed $40 to the Old People’s and Orphans Home. Interment was made in the French Creek cemetery Monday. A large gathering of friends gathered at this time to pay their last respects to this pioneer woman. Rev. C.B.Bestul officiated. Reprinted from the Ettrick Advance.

Dette er nok rett, opplysningane du har funne Grethe Flood stemmer med det som finnes i eit slektstre på Ancestry.com. No er det ikkje alltid dei slektstrea er rette, men dette er nok det.   Det står Helstad (som i FT 1865), det står  dei same namna på foreldra til Sidsel/Sena, som også står i FT     🙂     F.datoen står ført som 24.12. 1857, i krk.boka er det 22.12., men det er nok rett familie    🙂
