Number 7 is my grandfather Neils Thorn, Nels Torn Nils Thomas.  He was a sailing man.  After immigrating to the US to Seattle, Washington, he traveled up and down the coast and met my grandmother while she was traveling to Costa Rica.  He married twice in his lifetime and named his two only daughters the same name, Nancy.  (Mothers were different).

Emil, Thanks for the head's up on the rule about names.  My desire to find information about my grandfather outweighed rules.  Takk

I looked for that book, but it's no longer published according to the ISBN number in US.

Ann-Mary, what did you delete?

Thanks for the replies, and I there are more forthcoming yet unrevealed.

Thanks again for all the information.  I will get an account with FamilySearch for sure.

Let me catch up and I'll be back to comment.

Thanks Grethe.  Would you mind translating that?

How I would delve into those books like a bookworm given the chance to visit the archives.

It was nice to learn that my grandfather did not immigrate on his own, perhaps his mother's decision rather than his.

He gave his age of 16 at immigration time but now there are some discrepancies about his age.

Any information on Thomas Hage?  I wonder if he used Thomas as a nickname.

Ancestry.com is now sending me "hints" that never appeared before. Nice that Family Search and Ancestry.com are sharing a partnership and thanks to the Mormons for being good family organizers, among other things.

Who is Thom Hage listed among the children in the 1900 census?

I assume Thomas?

Is there a way for me to print out all these messages so I can make my own notes and compare them so to avoid repetitive questions?

To Egil, thanks for verifying the information for the confirmation date.

I would appreciate it also if the complete lines of information could be translated so when I look at the archive link I can understand everything from one side to the other.

So why were Jorgen and Gurine crossed out?

Does everyone here actually work at the National Archives of Norway?

(The ones who respond to the posts from members like myself)

I did the Ancestry DNA and I'm 34 percent Norwegian.

My mother had his eyes.  Pretty blue eyes.

Had moved/lived elsewhere - in the transcribed version they both have an f marked in the residential column, meaning they were absent from this address. Jørgen was on board the ship Harald Haarfagre, Horten harbour - https://www.digitalarkivet.no/en/census/person/pf01100021018667  -  https://www.digitalarkivet.no/en/census/ship/sf01100021001547

Gurine has already been found by Grethe in post # 17.

Well, then, my hat's off to you all of you.  I sincerely appreciate your time and effort in helping me learn about my Norwegian family.

Do you guys collaborate with Ancestry.com and FamilySearch.com?

If not, might consider it.  It would be nice to be able to link all the sources and information at one time.

Anyone here in the Mandal area or know of any of the Hage family that might still live there?

In the meantime, I'm going to copy the information from here and paste it into work where I can print out and look at it and then input it into Ancestry.com

If anyone finds more information on Ole and Anna's parents and grandparents etc, that would be appreciated.

Nils had a son who died and he's buried in Washington state, while Nils is buried in San Bernardino CA.

And if there anymore pics of the kids that would be appreciated to.

Nice to learn about the ship, Harald Haafagre, in Horton Harbor. Is it still very congested there?  I watched a video on YouTube and those big busses sure come close together.  I always advocate for trucks in one lane and cars in the one lane but not sharing lanes.  Here in the states, too many accidents between semi's and autos.

In the post from Lars re Ole A Hage, number 12, Ministerial Book nr A3 1816-1841

What information follows his name listed as "Ole"?

Same for all the kids as well.  I want as much information as I can obtain.

Thank you

Hello,

Does Norway have a vital records office to obtain copies of birth marriage and death certificates?

If so, can someone please post the information for me.

Thanks so much.
