I would appreciate your help in finding a record of birth and names of parents for Nikolai Larsen Bøhmer.  He was born in Norway and died in Minnesota  He was born 29 OCT 1836 according to his death certificate.  Nicolai and his future wife, Inger Bertea Olsdatter Magnor, departed Oslo 31 May 1870 and are recorded in Emigranter fra Oslo 1867-1930.  Inger Bertea was born in Eidskogen and I have her family history.  Nikolai was a resident of Eidskogen in 1870, but I can not locate him in baptism, konfirmation, folketelling, or udflyttede records for Eidskogen. I have found a Nicolai Larsen with same date of birth born in Ås, Akershus, but I can not find Udflyttede or Inflyttede records or 1865 Folketelling to verify that this is the right person.  I also can not find connection to Bøhmer name.  Most with Bøhmer name were found in Gausdal or Lillehammer.  I do not know where to look next.  Any help you can provide would be appreciated.  Mange takk!

When did he die and did he call himself Larsen, Larson or Bøhmer/Bohmer in the US?

I have good documentation of Nikolai in USA.  He used name Nekolai, Nikokai, Nikolay, and Nikolas in USA.  He spelled his last name Bohmer, Bumer and Bommer in US records.  I found no record of any other family coming to USA.  I found no reference to family back in Norway. No obituary is available.  I have requested a copy of his Declaration of Intent for citizenship.  I need to find his place of birth and the names of his parents in Norway.

Nikolai died 18 AUG 1908 in Dakota County, Minnesota.  I have a copy of his death certificate.  His name was recorded as Nicholas Bummer (f. 29 OCT 1836 in Norway).  The death record shows that his father was Nicholis Bummer and mother was Bertha Olson.  I think this was a mistake.  I think that they listed Nikolai and his wife Inger Bertea «Bertha» rather than Nikolai’s father and mother.  I did some research for a Nikolai Nikolaisen, but had no success.  I did find several Berthe Olsdatter in Eidskogen, but found no connection to Nikolai.  I found no Bøhmer in Eidskogen.  Most were in Gausdal or Lillehammer.

My husband is related to the Bøhmers in Gausdal and Lillehammer. I will look into this during the next few days.

He is probably of th3 Kråkstad Bøhmer family, not from Lillehammer. Perhaps from Stønnerud farm?

Thank you Anne!  The marriage record was very helpful.  It looks like Nikolai was born at Spitsbergen.  Do you think he was born in Spitsbergen and baptized in Ås or was his mother or father from Spitsbergen?  I can not read everything in his birth record from Ås.  I found a marriage record for Lars Thorersen Eegeland and Johanne Thorersdatter on 04 DEC 1824 in Drøbak, Akershus.  Maybe these are his parents?

The marriage record for Lars and Johanne show that they were from the Klinderud farm.  The selveier at Klinderud/Klynderud was Nicolai Nicolaisen Behmer, baptized 24 OCT 1764 at Krakstad.  He was son of Nicolai Nicolaisen and Johanne Olsdatter.  I do not find a family relationship between Lars and Johanne and this Behmer family, but Behmer was probably origin of Bøhmer name for Nikolai Larsen Bøhmer.

I think Helvig Carlsdt married to Nicolai Behmer was Nicolai Larsens great grandmother,

Their son Thore Larsen  had a daughter Johanne who i belive is Nicolays mother

That is great!  It looks like you solved that mystery.  I know that Helvig was married three times, but I did not make connection back to her first husband.  I now only have mystery of when and why Nikolai Larsen Bøhmer went from Ås to Eidskogen and became a bager. Thank you so much for your help.  I am writing a family history for friends in North Dakota, USA.
