Hello!

I was hoping I could get some help in finding any records or books that detail Elias Gabrielsen's shipbuilding. I have quite a few documents already about it but if anything else is found that does not pertain to his shipbuilding then I would appreciate that as well.

I believe on one of the census is says he is a ship builder and in the references at the bottom of this post.

I found this article about boat building traditions in Åfjord (only in Norwegian):

https://afjordsbatenkystlag.no/battradisjoner-i-afjord/

It says that in the 1900 public census there were 67 farms that were building boats. The wood that belonged to each farm, was used as boat material. It might be that the Åfjordsbåten Kystlag can help you with further information: https://afjordsbatenkystlag.no/kontakt-oss/.

If you search for "båtbygger" at www.digitaltmuseum.no you might find pictures of boat building tools.

Thank you Grethe Flood! The article was very enlightening. I did not realize that there were so many  boat builders! That probably is going to make it much harder to find any specific info about Gabriel and his boat building then.
