Looking for some information on my grandpa my hero

My Grandpa Vernis Ivan Church was a Platoon Sergeant in the 95th Division with Patton Third army Iron Men Of Metz, 377TH Infantry Regiment, Company C. I’ve been trying to do a lot of research to find out more about the stories about where my grandpa was at. I’m also hoping to find some photos of him. 

My Grandpa also fought in Luxembourg, Holland and crossed the Rhine with General Simpsons 9TH. Then my grandpa entered the Ruhr pocket and fought with the 2nd armored division with the hell on wheels division. My grandpa saw a lot of combat at the Battle of the Bulge. Thanks Cody

You do mention that your grandfather was a part of the 377TH Infantry Regiment. I wonder if you have researched the large amount of information available on line for this regiment and the 95th Infantry Division to which it was attached. Here are some links if you are interested.

I hope you will find some interesting information on your grandfather from the links above. This site may not be the best place to find out information on WWII. It is more useful for tracing your Norwegian Ancestors, such as your great grandfather Gilbert Strand. 

 

Here is the arrival of Gilbert Strand in 1905. This is following the emigration record posted by Svein Hjortland in the your earlier thread. He was known as Gilbert Strand in America but in Norway he was known as Gulbrand Gulbrandsen Strand.

Here is a picture of the ship that carried him from England to America. Emigrants usually travelled on a feeder ship from a Norwegian port to someplace in England like Liverpool, England and then boarded a larger ocean going ship to America.
