Bygdebok Idd, Østfold - Help! (English)

Hello,

I am researching my family who originated in the Halden area of Ostfold Norway. My great great grandmother was Antonette Hansen. Her father Hans Andreas Hansen was born in 1819 to Hans Arvesen (1798) and Elisabeth Gundersdatter (1795). Looking through the records i was able to locate Hans Arvesen's sister Else Andrine Hansdr born 1821. Her baptism record mentioned a Simon Arvesen as a witness. Using this i was able to find a Simon and Hans Arvesen living at the Ourød farm in 1801 with brothers Niels and Peder and their father Arve Nielsen (1761) and mother Anne Svensdatter (1768, also possible Simonsdatter).

I understand that with them living on a farm their might be some more information in the local Bygdebok for Idd, however being located in the UK I am unable to source this and my searches online havent returned any digital results which means i am at a dead end. I was hoping someone might be able to advise if there is a way i can source any further information on the family and the farm to see if there is any further back i can get in my research. Any help is greatly appreciated.

The information on the Farm is so interesting - thank you for digging that out for me - so cool to see pictures of where they may have lived. If it was the same family then its amazing to see what it would have looked like. Do you think there might be further information in the Bygdebok, am i right in thinking it might be the next place to look?

Thank you for the links, i will be checking them all out and having a scout through to see what i can find. Really appreciated.

Berit - i saw in another thread this book mentioned - Harald Bakke: Id herred : En grænsebygds historie - might not be a Bygdebok but from what i read it may have some farm information

There isn`t much information about the individual farms in this book. This is what it contains about Orød:

I  have seen the book, and it does not say much about the people:

"In 1723 the farm was owned of Fredrich Fløys heirs, but was drifted by Svend Svendsen.

In 1865 owned by G. Leganger, later by kaptein Mamen and in 1907 by P. Bramer."

Anne Svendsdatter, maybe a daugther of Sven Svendsen ?

When and where was Antonette Hansen/Hansdatter born?

Antonette was born in Halden to Hans Andreas Hansen and Else Dorthea Pedersdr in 1850. She ended up in London married to her stepfather Rudolph Lindenzweig! No luck yet in tracing an emigration record or any further information about her other than a family rumour she was involved in theatre / entertainment work and her occupation in London is listed as a seamstress, her husband was a costume designer (at this time Chrysanthus Spettel) and her other son Amandus went on to be a London music hall performer along with his daughters the Linde Sisters (Ivy and Eva Linden - one was arrested in Russia on suspected espionage!).

I thought the same about Sven Svendson but then when i found the baptism records of the Arvesen children (Simon, Niels, Peder and Hans) their mother is listed as Anne Simonsdatter instead of Svensdatter as in the 1801 census, however all the dates add up. Entrance number 2 is the Hans Arvesen Baptism (https://media.digitalarkivet.no/view/7463/37869/8) I have been able to find which shows Anne Simonsdatter (which would add up with a son Simon). I dont speak Norwegian at all so its very tricky with transcription errors etc.

Berit this is incredible! I don't know how to thank you enough for taking the time to look for me. I could never have found this information out without your help.

Im guessing when the names are not patronymic they are likely farm names? So Grinder could be the farm area that Simon came from? Same for Røed?

Thanks for the help yesterday, i now think the write Sven Elvestad is in my family tree after following these links from yesterday.

His mother Adolphine Helene Andreasdatter Elvestad is the daughter of Else Andrine Hansdatter, the sister of my relative Hans Andreas Hansen born to Hans Arvesen.

very exciting stuff!

Nearly bottom of the right side:

Dom XVI a Tr. (10. sept.) 1768 Aremark, ett pige Barn kaldt Anna. (A girl called Anna)

Foreldre (Parents) Simon and Sigri Grinder.

Test. Anne Spondalen, Mari Nordby, Hans Berger, Anders Grinder and Laurids Grinder.

Just droddling:

1768 Hans Berger Test. at the baptism of Anna Simonsdt.

1788 Ole Hansen Berger. Cautionist at the marriage of Arve and Anna Simonsdt.

Could they be father and son? And the name Hans came from the family of Anna Simonsdt., or just good friends of the family?
