https://www.digitalarkivet.no/kb20070315620226 This seems to be the record of the first marriage of Brynild Nielsdatter. Is it 13 July 1783? Is her residence Juulglul?

I am hoping this is the same person as in the link below:

https://www.digitalarkivet.no/kb20070315610697 Right hand page, 3rd item

https://www.digitalarkivet.no/kb20070315620244 This may be the death of the husband to Brynil? Right hand page, right hand column, age 26

Isn't the year 1784? not 1884?

https://www.digitalarkivet.no/kb20070315620244

What is the meaning of the name Karl and "appointed" sergeant Kittil Halversen?

I notice that on the engagement record, he is referred to as Karl and soldier Kittil Halvorsen, and on the death record as Karl and appointed sergeant Kittel Halvorsen. Likely the same individual?

right...1784.

"Karl" means man (male human); "ungkar(l)" (here: "unge karl") means unmarried man, bachelor (regardless of age)

Indeed "Karl" is also used as a name (proper noun), but int these cases it is the common noun.

Any groom are either "ungkar" (bachelor) or "enkemann" (widower).

The point that leads to a clear "no" to your question, is that as an "ungkarl" (bachelor), he cannot be married to your Brynil (or anyone else).

So I have to look for his/her marriage record?

Depends on what you are searching for.

This topic was on the transcription/interpretation of a certain burial; that is, of Kittil Halvorsen Schione. He was not married to anyone.

You may have to review what you know, and what you do not know - and then search for more evidence.

Ok thanks. I will do more searching.

Getting back to the engagement record of Kittel Halvorsen and Brynild’s Nieldtr, Brynild was a widow when she married Ole Povelsen and had the children Jens and Barbara.  The second line of the engagement record starts out with “Cop. 4 Aug.” Does that mean that they were married on August 4 of that same year?

Not easy to follow your reference without a link to the inquiry or protocol...

However, may be this?

(5th row 1794)

(It is the engagement, contrary to what is answered.)

Engagement 7 June.

The 2nd line, margin, has the note "Copul: 13 Jul".  It means that they were married on 13 July the same year.
