Here is the arrival of Henry Johnson into Quebec.  Henry is the fourth person down the list. I have also found Olaf G Lie (Olaf G Lee in the Ancestry.com transcription) so I do feel fairly comfortable that we have the right person.

Here is the original church record:

SAO, Piperviken prestekontor Kirkebøker, SAO/A-10874/F/L0005Ministerialbok nr. 5, 1911-1949, s. 36
Brukslenke for sidevisning: https://www.digitalarkivet.no/kb20061123340328

It says that he died at Rikshospitalet (= national hospital) from "kancer ventricul.[is]. pleur.[ae] pulm.[onarius]" Which translates something akin to cancer of the stomach and lung membrane (The pulmonary pleurae).

Oh thank you so much for that information on my Great Grandfather.

You have a question Bonnie about the age of Henry Johnson, born in 1875.

I will take another look at the passenger list to see if there is a better candidate or if the transcriber misread the age of the passenger as 30 rather than the 20 that I read in the original document.

This has to be her arrival in spite of the spelling of the name. The lady below  her here is also next to her on the ship out of England.

She is number 13 on the list. Destination looks like Leavenworth, Washington.

Alara Knadesen

in the Canada, Incoming Passenger Lists, 1865-1935

Gender:Female

Arrival Age:22

Birth Year:abt 1883

Thank you for finding this. I do believe this could be my grandfathers first wife that he sent for to join him in Leavenworth. Olava Knudson They married in Leavenworth in Dec. of 1905. She passed away in 1916. Then my grandfather married his second wife who is my mothers mom. Supposedly my grandfather John S.W. Johannessen (Johnson) came in 1904 and worked for awhile to get enough money to send to Olava to come to the USA to get married. They were married in Leavenworth, Washington.

I don't think he would have been 30? The story we always were told was at least three brothers came to America together. We always thought in 1904. Axel does look like he came in 1907 according to what you sent earlier though. Four brothers came to America and we are unsure of the name of the fourth brother who they called Roy on the picture I have of the four brothers.

I agree he was not 30, he was 20 as the Norwegian record and the English record state. When I look at the original record it certainly looks to me like a 20. I think the transcriber from Ancestry.com misread the 20 as a thiry.

I looked through the eight pages of the manifest for the Lake Champlain and the Henry Johnson (Johnston to the transcriber) on page 5 is the only good candidate on that ship.

As to the brothers coming on the same ship, the only thing we know to date is that Aksel and Henry did not come on the same ship. One came in 1905 and one in 1907.

Your grandfather John seem to be the hardest to find. If he ended up using just some version of John Johnson it is going to be very difficult to find the right one from all the many John Johnsons leaving Norway in 1904.

It is likely that he did leave in 1904 as that is the year given in the US Census records that I have seen. But finding him is not going to be easy.

It is possible that the brothers did not travel together but if all of them travelled between 1904 and 1907 that might have seemed like they all arrived at the same time.

A little hard to get a good answer now. We need to find the other brothers.

My grandfather was born June 4th 1883. Axel (Askell)was born Feb. 11th 1887 died Aug. 10th 1981, Henry born about 1884, Hanna ( Hennretta) born on Oct. 27th  1889.  And my grandfathers first wife Olava Knudson was born Aug. 29th 1882 and died in Leavenworth WA. Jan. 8th 1916. A possible other brother who didn't come to the USA is Martin Gotfred Johanessen about 1873. I did also find another possible daughter Amalie Sophie born 1873, and maybe another son Karl Julius mar. 7th 1874. I just can't get to where I can be sure these are right. One 1891census that was sent to me had a Theodor Hendrk Emanuel on it as a son which I thought might be Henry? The picture I have of the four brothers here in the USA. My grandfather far right. Axel far left. Axel was about very tall.  I am finding so many wrong spellings of names and dates. Still not sure if the dates for my great-grandparents Are right Jan Henrik Johansen  Born Dec. 4th 1847 died Feb. 11th 1918 and Johanna Johanessen (born Carlsdatter) born Nov. 14th 1852. I can't connect either one of them to parents either. Can be so confusing.

My grandfather was a certified Baker too before coming to America. I have a copy of his paper work. I can attach it. He used Johan on most of the paper work. I couldn't read them as it was in Norwegian but a friend told me the one paper was his Bakers certification which I thought maybe was a birth certificate originally.  LOL one story a cousin here in the USA said was that two or three of the boys were stole a ways on the ship? I think that was just a untrue story.

Not at all uncommon in genealogy. In fact I think that the differences in names and dates in your family are quite normal and not nearly as different from one another as I have seen.

We have thrown a lot of information at you in a very short time and so not so unusual for you to feel a bit put off. But I think as you look at the data and absorb it it will be become clearer and will start to fit together.

I will give it a shot. Some names are easier to find than others. Here is the emigration record for Olava Amelia leaving Norway.

Wow you are able to find a lot. Thank you. Where do you live? I live in Brighton, Colorado USA. I only have the "My Hertiage" site and now the "Arkivverket" site to look things up. Your a great resource.

Would it be easier to share information through email?  My mom pasted away in 2015 and I always wanted to find out more about her fathers heritage for her before she passed away. Now I want to know more too. I have two of her cousins in Norway that I was hoping to get more information from but was only able to get their parents names and they didn't know anything else about their family history. I am also working on my dad's side of the family which came from Scotland, Ireland and England, as far as I can find anything.

Very useful record is the Alien Registration that you just posted. I think based on the fact that he travelled on the Salt St Marie Line indicates that he arrived in Canada. And he might have  arrived on July 9, 1904 might help greatly in finding his arrival record.

Several ships  arrived from Liverpool, England on July 9, 1904. Worth a good hard look.

I am beginning to doubt that the brothers arrived in the same year.

Not really. The advantage of using this Forum is that a lot of people who are Norwegian and expert genealogists will look at the topic. As you have seen they will have contributions to make that will advance your search.

Right now it is the middle of the night in Norway. In a few hours they will be up and about and hopefully will take another look at the thread.

You might have to digest the information that has been provided and think of what questions are left to be answered.

By the way, I live in Minneapolis.

Yes, I believe that Theodor Hendrik Emanuel is the same person as your Henry.

It looks as if this brother Martin Gotfrid stayed in Norway. Most likely this is him in the 1910 and 1920 Norwegian Census Records.

t does look like Jahn Henrik came from Sweden, here he family is in a husforhør. He is called Jan Henrik Jonasson, born in Åmål Dec 4 1847. But this record also says that Johanna is born in Arvika, in Sweden. https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/3:1:3Q9M-CSGC-19MK-6?cc=2790465&personaUrl=%2Fark%3A%2F61903%2F1%3A1%3AQL54-K6T4

It looks like the family moved back and forth between Norway and Sweden a few times.

Their wedding date is also given as Jan 24, 1873

I think that the dates for your great-grandparents are given in the Household Census posted by Per.H. Skaug, link above.

I would guess that three of the brothers in the picture are John S V, Aksel and Henry. But who is the fourth man.

The fourth is a brother too who went by Roy but grandpa lost contact with him when he moved away. I do not think his real name was Roy and so far can not find that name in anything sent to me. But did find out that Martin Godfred Johansen is a brother too who stayed in Norway for sure. A 3rd cousin in Norway said her mother who's still alive but 90 years old and memory not very good was the granddaughter of Martin and that they spelled the last name Johansen.
