Jorine Cecilie (not sure the last name, Knutsdatter it should have been), Lauritz Knutson, and Thore Knutson questions

Generally, for troubles finding people who are definately here, it could be some issue with their name.  Perhaps he adapted his name to something more Anglicized like Thomas Thompson, etc. Or maybe he even used a name quite unlike his own.  Or maybe he adopted / adapted the farm name that his father or mother came from?

In the letter Lena Pederson asks Jorine to greet Tore.  It would appear that she thought he was still living in 1939.  She maybe knew or maybe didn't know, one way or another or but was just being polite.  We only have one side of the conversation she was having with Jorine.  If it is true that he was still around in 1939, then the era of your search should be 1939-1956 when he wasn't mentioned as surviving Lauritz.

Since Lauritz had numerous children, and if he was practicing Lutheran, there might be relatives named as faddere (witnesses or godparents) of his children.  Do you have access to the church(es) where the baptisms might have been done?  Check them all for the witnesses.

Make sure you have the earliest records location in US for Jorine and Lauritz.  Relatives have a tendency to congregate, especially ones who shared a trauma such as losing their parents in an accident.  So cousin Lena was in Dickinson county, Iowa,  Lauritz settled on Crawford county, Wisconsin.  Cousin Einar Pederson was also in Grant county, Wisconsin.  For certain look in these places.

Rogaland has its own bygdelag organization, that is, an organization for migrants and their descendants who came from parishes in Rogaland of which Stavanger and

Hjelmeland qualify. https://www.fellesraad.com/rogalandslag.htm Have them check their membership records to see if he ever joined or was written about in their publication.

Just out of curiousity I looked for a Nils Thorsen (Jorine's letter had asked if Lena had heard from "Einar (Pedersen), Louis (my Gpa, Lauritz) or Nils"  and my family tree "match family members" came up with this:    Nils Thorsen is your aunt's first cousin once removed's wife's great aunt's husband's second cousin's wife's brother.

Einar is the one who brought my Gpa Knutson over to the USA, Louis is my Gpa (aka Lauritz) and I'm still looking into Nils and any in California though I've not found any yet.

Einar Pederson and his family ended up in California.

I wonder why she'd mention him twice, first asking about him at the start then also mentioning "those in California".

wondering if there's others and maybe that could be the reason he moved there.
