I've found the birth record  of my Grandfather   Kristian Anton ERIKSEN

He was No. 79 on page 196 

His father was Anders Eriksen  born 1929 in Sweden   His mother was Inger Marie Borresdatter  born 1854 in Tjolling.  I understand that info.

In column 6 of the entry  it shows Anders Eriksen   and another word.  Can you tell me what that 3rd word says and means

 

I dont know the meaning of column 4  but assume the birth was registered on 25 May 1893

I dont know what the headings  in column 9 , 10 and 11 mean  , Can someone help me with the meanings

and also the names  written in columms and 11

the 3rd word is "Stenarb." (Stenarbeider; stoneworker, stone cutter)

Col. 4 is the date of confirmation in church of home baptism - when relevant.

Col. 9 displays the withnesses.

"Tømmermand  [timberman] Ole Ellefsen m. K. [and wife], Pige [girl]  Karoline Johannesen, Fisker [fisherman] Andreas Halvorsen"

Col. 10: legitimate ("ægte") or illegitimate ("uægte")

Col. 11: Remarks especially, a) in case of home batims, b) for illegitimate births  - also other remarks when relevant.

"hjd. af [baptized at home by] Kirkesanger [sexton] Anstensen, vidner: [withnesses] Kone [wife] Andrine Ellefsen, Kone Sofie Johannesen."

Will suggest that 'Kirkesanger' normally was interpreted as 'the church's lead singer', i.e. he had the function of getting the rest of the congregation to join in when the hymns were to be sung during the ceremonies.

well... not really.  Translating titles is difficult, and there is hardly a "normal".

Rigth, he was leading the hymns of the cervices.  This was the 2nd duty mentioned in the law (Christian Vs Norwegian Law, 1687, 2-5-3)

The first duty (2-5-2) was teaching of the community on sundays and teaching of the youg people one day in the week.

After confirmation and schools were introduced ( 1736), the "kirkesanger" was responsible for the school and teaching. In the 1800s he

was the "main teacher" of the parish. The relation to school was released about 1890, although he might still be a teacher.
