James Campbells testamente fra 1732 er uforståelig for meg. Håper noen kan hjelpe..

02 I James Campbell of the Parish of St Paul Covent-Garden doctor

03 of Medicine being sick and weak of body but of sound and

04 perfect mind and memory and Considering the Certainty of Death

01 and uncertainty of the time thereof dos therefore make and declares

02 my last Will and Testament in manner and form following That

03 is to say Imprimis I will order direct and appoint that on such

04 just Debts as I shall owe at the time of my decease together with

05 any ffunerall charges shall be fully paid and satisfied // Item I

06 give and bequeath unto my Nephew James Campbell the son

07 of my Brother the late Reverend Mr. Colin Campbell unto him

08 his Heirs or Assignes the sume of Three Hundred pounds Sterling

09 as alsoe all such Boots as I aye possessed of which treat of 

10 Medicine Surgery or any Branch of them excepting such as the

11 Earl of Ilay may think fit to call for // Item I give and bequeath

12 to my Nephews David and James Graham to each fforty 

13 pounds Sterling to them their Heirs or assignes and unto my

14 Nephew Colin Greme the sum of Twenty ffive pounds besides

15 which I desire his Note to, me for seven Guineas lent him may

16 be Cancelled and not Charged to his attempt Item i give

17 and bequeath to my Sisters Mrs. Elisabeth Stewart Mrs. Lillias

18 Kinloch and Mrs. Marg. Ferguson to them their Heirs and

19 Assignes to each of them one hundred pound Sterling Item I give

20 and bequeath to my Mother if it pleases God she survives me

21 the Sume of One Hundred pound Sterling to her and her Assignes –

22 Item I give and bequeath to the poor of the parish of Monzie –

23 in Perthshire the sume of Twenty pounds Sterling to be distributed

24 to them by my Sister the Lady Mourie at her discretion. Item I –

25 give and bequeath to the Rt. Hon.ble the Earl of Ilay a Case

26 with 12 Knives China Handles and 12 Silver Spoons and

27 fforks which I pray he’l accept of as a small Token of my

28 Gratitude I desire also the Catalogue of my Boots may be

29 carried to him and that he would please to accept as such of

30 them as he pleases to marke out Item I give and bequeath

31 to the Rt. Hon.ble. my Lord fforbes of Ireland a Gold Snuff box

32 was given to me by the Duke of Argyle Item I give and

33 bequeath to the Hon.ble Mrs Campbell of Cimbanke(?) the summe

34 of ffifty pounds to her and her Assignes Item I give and bequeath

35 to Mr. George Widleton Goldsmith the Sume of ffifty pounds

36 to him his Heirs and Assignes The rest residue and remainder

37 of my Estate whatsoever and wheresoever I give and bequeath

38 unto my Brother Patrick Campbell of Monzie Esqr. and his

39 Assignes for ever and so hereby make Name and appoint him

40 full and sole Executor of this my last Will and Testament hereby

41 revoking anulling and makeing void All former Wills

42 Bequeaths and Legacies by me at any time heretofore made

43 bequeathed or given and doe make and declare this only to

44 be my last Will and Testament. In Wittnesses hereof I the said

45 James Campbell the Testator have herinto sett my hand and

46 Seal this Twenty Third day of october Anno Domini 1732 Ja:

47 Campbell. – . Sealed and Delivered in the presence of Geo Campbell

Å herrejemini – selvsagt! Tenkte kanskje Boots var et arkaisk ord for eiendeler/løsøre. (Fnis)
