I am looking for information regarding Erik Olsen born 1802 Agotsrud, Sar-Odal, Norway died 27 Dec 1869  Gjersoyenmyra, Sar-Odal, Norway and his wife Dorthe Mathisdatter born 4 Mar 1810 Sjønnerud, Sar-Odal, Norway and died 6 Mar 1878 Gjersoyenmyra, Sar-Odal, Norway.

 

Erik Olsen and his wife is the 2nd great grandfather and mother of my husband Patrick Erickson in New Zealand.  I have tried to use the Arkivverket, but getting nowhere.

I want to research the family in Norway and need names of the mother and father of Erik Olsen and Dorthe Mathisdatter that is correct information.

In the 1865 census it says Erik Olsen is born in 1790 and Dorthe in 1807.

What is the name of their child that is the great grandfather or mother of your husband.

 

I found Dorte christened March 11th 1810. She was illegtimate and her mother was

Ingri Larsdtr and the father Mathias Hansen from Trondheim.

Thank you Ann and Anton for all the help.  The name of my husbands great grandfather : Kristoffer Eriksen born 12 February1843, Nes, Odalen, Akershus, Norway (parents Erick Olsen and Dorthe Mattisdotter).  Kristoffer Eriksen married Bertha Maria Olsdatter in Nes, Akershus, Norway, on May 5, 1871, when he was 28 years old. Their daughter Dina Indiana was born 9 June 1871, Nes , Akershus, Norway. He was part of the Vogel Scheme who immigrated to New Zealand in 1871 Christopher Eriksen - Emigration Record from Nes parish register (ancestry.com). They left Norway on the "England", during the voyage his wife Bertha  passed away on January 2, 1872 and Dina January 13, 1872 and was buried at sea. Kristoffer died 3 June 1921.

Kristoffer lead a very good life in New Zealand and  married Lise Maria Kirstine Andersen (Pedersdatter) in Masterton, Wellington, New Zealand, on February 12, 1875.  They had 12 children and my husbands paternal grandfather was Charles Ericksen born 13 Dec 1881, Mauriceville, Masterton, New Zealand.

As my husband is the end of the line for the Ericksons (line of Charles Ericksen) in New Zealand with no children to pass on the family history I decided to research back as much of the family in Norway as possible to gift to the rest of the Erickson family.

Please note that Odalen, later Sør-Odal and Nord-Odal, is located in former Hedmark county (today: Innlandet county). In the 19th century fylke was called amt. 

 

Please also note that there is one parish called Nes in Hedmark county and one parish called Nes in former Akershus county (today: Viken county).

Hans Olsen and Olia Olsdatter are two of the witnesses, they share the patronymic Olsen/-datter with Erik Olsen, but they might not be related at all.

Thank you Grethe you have helped me with information.  I am still looking for the father and mother (sure it is Sigri Nielsdatter) of Erik Olsen birth year 1793 and wonder if this can be his father and mother.  But then if he was born around 1793 the his baptism date make him 10 years old. Of course not able to read Norwegian is not very helpful.
