Deaths in Trondheim

I have family which lived in Trondheim in the 1860/70's.

In the 1875 census it shows my great grandmother  and great-great grandmother living at Vestregade 91b.

Gyda Marie Ottesen and Randi Ottesen (Enke).

https://media.digitalarkivet.no/view/52359/1804

My question is related to Randi's husband who passed away before this time.

20 years ago I looked through all the pages of the Domkirke Parish but couldn't find an Ove Martin Ottesen, b. 1842 Åsen.

Looked in the Domkirke as that is where Randi and Ove were married, and children were baptised : Gyda Marie in 1865 and Ove Rangvold in 1867.

Is there another/easier way to search for deaths/burials in the 1867-1875 time frame? Or a resident record for each year to see when Randi  was Enke? Or....?

Thank you for any direction anyone could provide.

Actually, I just realized that Gyda Marie was confirmed in Bakke church in 1878, so probably could look there.

The period can be restricted:

Census 1865:  https://www.digitalarkivet.no/census/person/pf01038310006409

This census was accounted as of 31 December 1865 (i.e. those who died 1 Jan are included and those born 1 Jan are not).

Moreover, the guidelines specifies that age should be accounted as ordinal numbers; i.e. 1 = 1st year of life, etc;  Gyda was then born in the year 1865.

https://rhd.uit.no/census/instrukser.html

Urban areas also had a census in 1870 (or '71) https://www.digitalarkivet.no/census/person/pf01053367001380

The surnames are somewhat different, however, Randi's year and place of birth are the same.

This was also take by 31 Dec.

Accordingly, Martin Ottesen died in 1866-1870.

Churches in Trondheim were Domkirken, Vår Frue and Bakke; also Hospitalskirken (however, less likely)

In 1865 they lived in Thomas Angells gate, and this street was the limit between Domkirken and Vår Frue parishes.

WOW, thank you, Ivar!!!

Since I had done my research many years ago, a lot of more info has been added. I did not know about the 1870 census (or others), so there is more information on the Vinges that I can look up, as well.

As far as I know, no one in the family knew of Petra. Hangervold is the name of the farm in Byneset, where Randi was born!

And the search is on again!

Thank you SO MUCH for your time and knowledge!

Well, partly successful.

I found Petra's baptism on p. 77 of the Domkirke Parish records on 12 Jun 1870; b. 10 Mai 1870 to Arbeidsm. Martin Ottersen? (supposed to be Ottesen?) and Randi at Lillegardsbakken.

There is something written under the baptism date (can't make it out) but I think it refers to the last column where it is a Home Baptism at ????

It seems that Martin is alive at this point, Jun 12, 1870. Haven't found a burial record, YET!

Thank you again for the direction you gave, Ivar!

After some hours of researching:

1870 Dec 31 census:
Randi  Hangervold is Enke with 3 children: Marie Gyda Kristine, b. 1865; Ove Rangvald, b. 1867 and Petra b. 1869 (incorrect; see above).
Also living with the family is Kristine Olsdatter Husbyevald, b. 1812 Aasen (Randi's mother-in-law; Ove Martin Ottesen's,b.1842, mother).

So Ove Martin Ottesen died between 10 Mai 1870 and 31 Dec 1870 (I looked well into 1872 in Domkirke; Bakke; Vår Frue parish records. The hospital records didn't allow me to see pages.

1875 census
Randi Ottesen, Roskone for Reservepleierne?? Delvis understøttet af Fattigvæsenet for 2 Børn ("Roskone"  (Rådskone) is a housekeeper.

"Delvis understøttet af Fattigvæsenet for 2 Børn" : partly supported by the poor relief for 2 children.

Only one child is with her; Marie Gyda (my g-g-grandmother). Where is Ove Rangvold (b. 1867; I believe he is in Frosta where his father was born-confirmed there in 1882-Cannot find him in the 1875 census there or anywhere) and Petra (b. Jun 1870-possibly died  but see below) More searching!

Possible Petra Ottesen (Petea Otesen) b. 1870, Trondhjem, Pleiedater, living with Anthon Juberg, b. 1848, Frosta, Occupation, Malermester eget Værksted, and his wife, Nekoline, b. 1852, Trondhjem, and his mother, Andria, b. 1825, Frosten. Living at Petersborg.

Any suggestions as to find out about Petra?

Is there a census of 1880, 1885 and 1891 to search for people in Trondheim? Frosta? I can't seem to find it.

According to 1875 census, the Anthon Juberg family lived on Petersborg. Which church would be the best to look in?

Will look at confirmations there.

Thank you in advance, for any suggestions!!

Dave
