Looking For Living Relatives In Norway

I'm looking for living relatives in Norway, who are related to Gudbrand Gudbrandsen Strand ( Gilbert Strand ) that are still alive today.

I found my Great - Grandfather Gilbert Strand parents in the 1891 Norwegian Census. The parents were Gudbrand Andersen and Ingeborg Gudbransdatter.

The farm name is Strandeeiet in (Strand), Gran, Oppland, Norway, likely where my great grandfather Gilbert took his name from.

They were living at Paulsrud according to the census, but most of the time they were living at Askimseie.
The children listed were Anne, Ragnvald, Karoline, and Peder.

A(Anders).G.Strand mentioned by Lars above was most probably the first child of Gudbrand Andersen and Ingeborg Gudbrandsdatter.

According to this immigration record of 1905, it looks like all siblings of Anders, except Anne, might have ended up in US. Ragnvald, Peder, Caroline and Gulbrand all arrived in New York Apr 16 1905 and were all going to join their brother A.G. Strand at Edmore, North Dakota.

In order to find living relatives in Norway related to Gudbrand (Gilbert) Gudbrandsen Strand, it might be worth a try to find out what happened to Anne Gudbrandsen - did she also emigrate or did she remain in Norway, got married and have kids ?

One Gudbrand Andersen, married man born at Strandeie 1854, died in 1892 https://www.digitalarkivet.no/kb20060727050129
This sounds like a good candidate for Gilbert Strand's father's death. It also explains the connection to Strand.

1891?

1891?

You're correct, Lars. The page said 1892, but that only applied to the last two deaths. The ones above were in 1891.

This 1900 Census for an Anna Strand fits her well, birth is Jan 1882, location is  Grafton, Walsh, North Dakota.

There are several other  Anna Strands born about the same time also living in North Dakota at the same time so a it is fairly easy to get confused as to which is the one from this family.

We might find descendants of siblings of Gilbert Strand's uncles and aunts.
Gudbrand Andersen and Ingeborg Gudbrandsdatter were both born around 1850 in Gran.
In the 1865 census there were 5 Gudbrand Andersens in Gran with birth year [1848-1853]. According to the information at the marriage of Gilbert's parents, we should be looking for a paternal grandfather Anders Gudbrandsen.

The Gudbrand born in 1851 (which was the birth year of Gudbrand Andersen according to the 1891 census) was the son of 'husmann' was the son of Anders Gudbrandsen and Anne Pedersdatter. This Gudbrand's siblings were called Peder and Karen.

The Gudbrand Andersen born i 1852 had the parents Anders Gudbrandsen and Mari Andersdatter . His siblings were Marthe, Dorthea, and Anne Maria.

The rest did not have a father Anders Gudbrandsen:

The Gudbrand Andersen born i 1853 had the parents Anders Eriksen and Kari Andersdatter. His siblings were Marte and Ingeborg.
The Gudbrand Andersen born in 1850 was a tailor. His parents were Anders Knudsen and Siri Gudbrandsdatter, and he had siblings called Knud, Marthe, and Karen.

The Gudbrand Andersen born i 1849 had the parents Anders Pedersen and Ingeborg Johnsdsdatter, and siblings Anders, Berthe, Christian, and Iver.
It is, of course, possible that Gilbert's paternal grandmother had married two different Gudbrands in succession, and that the first one was dead by 1865, but it is not very likely.

Looking at sponsors for Gilbert there were a Kari Andersdatter, a Karen Andersdatter and a Peder Andersen among them. This makes it slightly more likely that Gilbert's paternal grandmother was Anne Pedersdatter and that they were living at Taajestua.
Among the sponsors for Gilbert's sister Anne there were no Andersdatter nor Andersen.
Among the sponsors for Gilbert's brother Ragnvald there was a Gudbjørg Andersdatter.
Among the sponsors for G's first sister called Karoline there was a Karen Andersdatter

Among the sponsors for G's second sister called Karoline there was a Karen Andersdatter
Among the sponsors for G's brother Peder there was a Torger Andersen.

As for Gilbert's maternal grandfather, his name was Gudbrand Iversen. In the 1865 census there were 5 men by that name in Gran.
Three of them were too young to have a daughter born around 1850. Of the remaining two, Gudbrand Iversen at Berger was the only one living with a daughter Ingeborg of the right age. Searching for Ingeborg Gudbrandsdatter born around 1850 there was also just one who had a father with the correct patronym: the one at Berger. The mother at Berger was called Birthe Thorsdatter. She was too young to be the mother off the oldest children. The siblings (and half siblings) listed for this Ingeborg were Ole, Erik, Johannes, Randi Christine, Anne, og Birthe Maria. The father was a 'husmann'. The mother of this Ingeborg was Randi Gudbrandsdatter.
None of the Ingeborgs of the right age were living with a widowed mother or as foster children.
