John Pearson was a foreman at a Lumber Camp. He earned $500 Canadian dollars during the previous 12 month period. He rented a place with 5 rooms for $25 dollars per month.

So far, I can not find the Bjornson family in the 1931 Census. The surname spelling was probably corrupted. I will continue to search.

Check this link to determine if he is your Knut Voge. According to a family tree he had a wife named Theres

As you see on the image above, on April 28, 1914 Knut Voge went to North Dakota. At some point in time he returned to Canada.

Knut spent his time in Canada and the USA. In Saskatoon, he was a farmer. He does not appear to have been involved in other activities. His marriage did not go well, he departed from that.

He may have applied for a Homestead Grant (Land Grant) in Saskatoon. He arrived in Canada at a time when the Government of Canada was recruiting settlers, offering land to those who were willing to settle on that land.

Theres is buried in Battleford, Saskatchewan

Yes, Knut got a Homestead in Saskatchewan 1909, near Buchanan - Township 32, range 7, west of 2. meridian, section 23, NE.

He married Theres, from Stockholm, Dec 6, 1916, but I dont know where.  I dont know about her birth and maiden name.

In the photo above we see Knut and Theres, probably as crew following a threshing rigg?

Still can't find the Bjornson Family in the 1931 census. I tried every variant I could think of. We know that they relocated to Manitoba. Perhaps it was during the time the 1931 census was being done and due to their transient nature they were not included in the census.

Do you know the years of their children's births? Kenneth was born in 1927 in Ontario.

I believe that I found Knut Voge in the 1930 census for San Deigo, California. Also in the household was a William H Crapp and Anna Crapp.

Signe Idella Bjornson wrote that the family lived in Port Arthur/Thunder Bay until 1935. The 3 sons were born there,  Marlys i Winnipeg:

A  Kenneth  Harold (1927 – 92). Married to Sylvia

B  Bernard Magnus (1927 -93). Married to Blythe

C. John Calvin ( 1929 - 98). Married to Doreen.

D  Marlys Hope.  (1941 - ) She visited Moland/Vegårshei approx   1970 together with her husband Edward (Ted) Carruthers.

After years  - of Great interest - information of Theresa.  I dont think Knut and her got a formal divorce.

Can you find her in Canada census 1931?

Yes, Knut lived with his sister Annie and brother in law William Crapp in San Diego, 1930

Thank you very much!

No, I am not with Ancestry.com.

Two last questions:

a. Marriage License -  they married Dec 6, 1916 ?

b. Knut and Theresa in the nat. census of Canada, 1921?

Previously, I searched for a marriage record and the 1921 census. No luck.

I could be wrong, but I suspect that they were married by someone legally permitted to marry them. The marriage might not be registered.

Knut's brother Ole Voge traveled often from Canada to U.S. He also visited Norway. Ole stated that his closest relative in Canada was his brother Knut.

Here is a brief timeline for Knut:

October 1911 - resided in Buchanan, Saskatchewan

November 1914 - resided in Saskatoon

December 1916 - resided in Saskatoon

April/May 1922 - resided in Saskatoon

In 1923, Tallack Voge being the Administrator for his brother Ole's estate, petitioned for equal shares of Ole's estate for Tallack, Knut, and Ann. Below is a copy showing the dollar amount of each share.

Thank you for helping me, and specially for finding (sad) information about Theresa.  In Norway we have a short letter from her, received 1924, where she asking for information of Knut - thats all.

Both Ole and Knut left/sold their farms near Buchanan around 1914.  Ole wrote of the Doukhobors  - from Russia.  He did not like the neighbourhood

When Knut died in 1950 he is mentioned as single....

I know about the estate of his brother Ole.  In fact, all the sibbings also had a lot of money in a norwegian bank - money from a deceased uncle.

If you can read norwegian I can send you further information via e-post.

It is possible that the 1931 census is not completely transcribed. You may want to search it at a later date.

Also, the Prairie Provinces in Canada do not have a lot of records online. That may account for the lack of finding Knut's marriage record...
