Screenshot_20230725_210916.thumb.jpg.4324cc4c5d97adb86479d2fdf9a194ac.jpgI am researching Torkild Bjerketvedt and found two burial records for children in 1738.  He had a child, Ingemund, born in 1736 and another, Gunnild, born in 1738.  Gunnild was born in May and this record is from August.

The 2nd record is one month later.

I can't make out the records due to the ink blots and not knowing the language enough to interpret.  Can anyone translate the records for me for the burial of Torkild Bjerketvedt's children please?   I'm trying to figure out which children passed away and, if possible, why.

Thank you, in advance!

Torkild also baptized two twin boys on January 4th 1733, Torchild and Gudmund

One of them was buried on February 25th

The second would be 5 in 1738, and most likely not one of the two buried in 1738

It may be "...Ætat 10 hebd:"  (...age of 10 weeks); hebdomadis = week

Well, then this might be Gunnild, after all. Although she was a girl. She would be about 11 weeks, born on or before May 11th, the day of her baptism (5th Sunday after Easter)

Thank you!  I have Torkild, but didn't realize the ink blots after it was a twin!  That explains some of what I'm missing.  I found in other sources that Torkid is the one that passed in February. There were notes for a Gudmund that I hadn't found. Thank you for pointing that out to me!

Thank you both!  Torkild did have a son that would be 10 years old at this time, but he's my 5th great grandfather and passed away in 1810.  His next son was born in 1730 and would have been 8 years old.

Maybe Ivar is correct that Gunnild was about boy? The 10 weeks would make sense.

Now I have to figure out who the second record is for.  None of the other boys are a year old in September 1738.

Ivar b. April 1730

Gudmund b. January 1733

Ingemund b. May 1736

Or some other child that I didn't find a record for.

I have more digging to do!  I appreciate your help in clarifying what the burial records said.

Gudmund is listed on top of the second column. The word following their names is hiemmedøbt  - home baptism.

The heading above Torchild is

2. Torchild Birchetvets Tvillinger (Twins)
