Looking for maybe someone who is English speaking that can help me trace any information about my Norwegian ancestors. Hit a wall when I traced my family to Norway. Thank you in advance

Ancestors.com got me to the point where my ancestors emigrated from Norway to the USA. My great great great grandfather, Henry Anderson, his wife Ellen Anderson and their son Seymore Anderson emigrated from Norway around 1850. Seymore at that time was around 6 years old. I can’t find any information about them during their time in Norway.

They might be easier to trace and verify if you know

- (approximately or accurately) the year (and date) of birth of "Henry" (probably Henrik in Norway) and Ellen

- how wide "around 1850" is  (+/- 1, 5, 10 years?)

- where they immigrated and settled

Note the 1880 Census Record posted above has a large number of  US sources for this man, as well as Norwegian Records in his Family Tree. Remains to be seen if the Tree is correct? The birth record from the Family Tree does not quite match the birth record from the Death Certificate posted by Jackie above.

Ivar, there is the problem. The information that I posted in the original thread is all the info that ancestry gave me. I do know they settled in the Marlette area of Michigan. I knew it was a long shot with what little info I have

Anton, this would be the correct Seymore I believe. I have quite a bit of information about him after his arrival in the United States. My problem is getting any information about him and his parents when they still lived in Norway before they emigrated. Ancestry.com has very little information on Norwegian genealogy.

This might be the parents of both Seymour and Andreas (Andrew ) in the 1860 Census. Andrew or Andreas is living with the parents and Alice is Eli Syversdatter? And Hans Arnesen is Hans Anderson and probably later Henry Anderson.

1870 census Sanilac county Michigan Marlette:

Here is an avenue which if you explore might allow you to accept the Henry / Ellen Anderson as the same people as Hans Anderson and Alice Anderson.  In the 1860 and 1870 censuses there was a question about the $ value of your real estate and personal property.  In 1860 Hans says he has $300 worth of real estate.  In the 1870 census Henry has none, but Andrew Anderson has $500.  It might become clear if you find that Hans Anderson sold his land to Andrew Anderson between 1860-1870 or if land purchased under the name Hans Anderson was sold under the name of Henry Anderson.  This is work that would have to be done at the Sanilac county courthouse.
