Help finding birth/emmigration records Anders Olsen Hoium / Ingeborg Jonsdatter Skjerdal / John Knutsen Skjerdal

Hi, I hope this is the correct forum to ask.  I am looking for help finding documentation for some ancestors.  I would appreciate any help that you can offer.

Most of this information is from a detailed family tree in Ancestry.  The detail makes me think that it's correct but I can't find the documents.

 

Anders Olsen Hoium (Hogheim/Hoyum)

   born ~13 November 1831 Leikanger, Sogn og Fjordane (one source says 1834)

   father: Ola Pedersen Hoium

   mother: Mari Eilivsdatter Hoium

 

Ingeborg Jonsdatter Skjerdal

   born 3 February 1829 Skjerdal (or skjeggedal), Aurland, Sogn og Fjordane

   father: Jon Olsen Skjerdal

   mother: Martha Olsdatter Gierlov

 

They may have married: 1859 Skudenes, Karmøy, Rogaland

 

Immigrated to the US in 1860 (census shows 1860; biography says 1854).  This link does not work anymore but hopefully points in the right direction:

Possible birth of a daughter in Norway 1858 - Synneva Andersdatter Hoium.  She died young so there is very little information about her.

The original record gives the birth date of the groom and bride so they should be findable. 

 

The bride fathers last name is spelled Aasen in the original record and the birth record for Knud is June not April.

Here is the original record for the birth of John. Mother is listed as Kari not Mari and the date is 29 June 1836. Nr 51.

Note the spelling of her fathers last name varies a little.  Also this birth date is quite different than the one from her marriage redcor?

Here is a candidate date for Anders. Born 13 Nov 1831. Father is Ole Pedersen but mother is not Mari Elivsdatter.

Here is a candidate for Synneva Andersdatter. Marriage records seems to list her as 29 or perhaps 20 years old in 1831. 'This girl wa born in 1803

You might need to use a Bygdebok to follow these people further back in time. But I would be learning to the first Synneva from above. Here are her two parents in the 1801 Censjs

This is likely the original record for the baptism of May 15, 1803. It is the first record on the right page. However when I look at the names I do not see an Anders and Brita?

Looks to me that Synneve is a twin to Ole. Here in the original record are the corr4ect parents. Anders Olsen and Brita Guttormsdatter. Found as the last record on the left page. So this record needs to be combined with the one for Synneve which is the first record on the next page.

Can you provide a link to the Ancestry.com Tree? Never mind, I think I have found at least one tree for this family. Two problems make the tree hard to follow.. Very few sources and the few Norwegian sources  have a location or farm but not a parish. Also I do not believe that the father of Synneve is Anders Ivarsen but rather is Anders Olsen. See 1801 Census.

 

So I have found a large number of Trees on Ancestry. Here is one starting from a sister of Synneve and Ole that is worth looking at for the parents of Synneva.

@Anton HageleeThis is the family tree that I was looking at.  It seemed to have more detail that seemed pretty close to reality compared to other trees that I viewed.  However it doesn't have much of anything for Norwegian sources which is why I came here 🙂

Thanks again for the help.  Part of the problem was that I couldn't figure out the search fields.  These examples helped so I could see that 'Birth Date' should be the month and day but not the year.  I did match up some of the emigration records with US census data so it looks solid.
