I just looked at Ancestry to see if there were anything on the couple's children and found about 70 trees there and most of them had totally wrong parents' on both of them.

The 1865 census states that he were born in 1827 in Melhus and she in 1828 in Sparbo whereas most of the trees have him born in 1834 and she born in 1831 and born in Melhus. When they get married it states that he was born in Trondheim and she in Stod and they were the same age.

Oh my goodness ...

That is a lot of work that has been done and I sincerely thank everyone.

What we US Scandinavian's understand (what I was made to believe) .. is that when the families immigrated to the US, the tradition (for a lot of them) was to put an end to having their children's surname change.

From reading through this thread ... my family lineage is / is not .. tied to Larsen (Larson) and Oleson (Olson), as it can be "ever changing" as an individual keeps digging. Unless you happen to come from the same branch of the tree in which your paternal ancestry always links down from the individual who was named after Their father?

Lars Larsen - Lars Larsen - Lars Larsen .... etc?

Am I following all of this correctly?

Kindest and most sincere regards,

Scott Sivertson
