Hello, I am trying to locate the grave of my great great grandfather Daniel Berhard Bolstad. He was born on or around June 3rd 1846 in Sand and died sometime in 1913 in Solvorn.

Bjorn, I tried to go in and change my user name but I can not figure out how to do it. I clicked edit on my profile. It had no option to change user name.

Lars, thank you for the posts. I am guessing he is buried in Hafslo but I did read that the record also includes Solvorn. I wanted to find his grave before I come to Norway for work. I will have a very limited time in the Berger area and was going to catch the train to the Hafslo/Solvorn area.

The church registry is for Solvorn sokn ("subparish", i.e. the district of Solvorn church); this is part of Hafslo prestegjeld (parish; includes also Hafslo sokn).

Hafslo sokn has another church registry.

Thus, your gg-grandfather is buried at Solvorn.

This is 111 years ago. It is possible, but not likely, that there is a gravestone that you can find, or any other way to spot the exact location.  The grave may be re-used later.

Nevertheless, you can find the graveyard.

Before traveling, you should spend some efforts on studying communications in Western Norway. Hint: Fjords and mountains...  There is no train to Hafslo or Solvorn.

Thank you Ivar,

I misspoke. I know there is no train directly to Solvorn or Hafslo. Like I had mentioned, I will only be in bergen for a couple days for work.
