Ditlofa Albertine Moller Born 1872 Haugesund, Norway - Allegedly Received Silver Medal For Producing and Creating Cheese

Hi there friends, it has been awhile. I am still researching my ancestors and recently came across a letter from a Norwegian relative (written in 1976) stating that my great grandmother was a "famous, skilled dairy-worker that got a diploma and silver medal for having created and produced  a special cheese of high quality." Of course it doesn't say when. She immigrated to the United States in 1903. Any help will be greatly appreciated - as always. This is Barbara from New Jersey!!!

That is her! I wonder if there is any newspaper articles about her alleged silver medal for creating a cheese?

Actually you have it correct. In the United States people in that position are referred to as a "manager" of a dairy company. It is unbelievable that you found that so quickly. I have been Googling it here in the US but of course nothing came up. I enjoy researching my Norwegian ancestors but sometimes have to ask for help from this forum. Everyone on here is so nice and helpful.

It is nice to hear that you are getting good help and that people are nice and helpful. It is part of the Norwegian folk soul, but we also have jackals....

Have a good and peaceful day  over there

Best regards

Ivar

She has probably won another year, but here she is not a participant, but a step up, she is a judge.

"At the agricultural and industrial exhibition, the following acted as prize judges in the various classes. .....For products from cattle farming: Dairy master J Grude, trader "merchant" Sjur Lothe and dairywoman Ditlofa Møller".

And Grude I believe a "Dairy master", an official, travelling his district to educate and inspect dairies and farms, reporting back to the national Inspector.

No, that's not her daughter. She didn't have children until 1904 in Philadelphia, Pa. My grandmother was one of her daughters.
