Help required with abbreviations in a bygdebok record

Could someone help me to understand some abbreviations in a bygdebok record please ? If you could transcribe the abbreviations in full words to Norweigan + the translate to English would be best. That will allow me to learn these words. If any of the words are measurements or the size of land could you suggest their equivalent in today's measurements if there is a difference.

I have transcribed and translated the whole text in ChatGPT already, but some of the abbreviations were not done accurately.

Many thanks for your help,
Ian

file 1:

"bm."  is a measure of real estate value.  It depends on time and district; perphps "bismermark"?

"skj." skjøte =  deed of transfer (of real estate)

"sympatisk": pleasant, likeable, nice, appealing

"G. I" Gifte 1 = 1st marriage

"g.m." gift med = married to

"G. II" Gifte 2 = 2nd marriage

"g." gift = married [11 December 1770]

"nottunger" (plural), https://lokalhistoriewiki.no/wiki/Nottung

"sk. 27-5 s.a."  skifte 27-5 samme år : division of the inheritage on 27 May in the same year (as death)

"daler" monetary value (same word as "dollar")

file 2:

"dpt" døpt = baptized

"grl." gravlagt = buried

"ug" ugift = not married

"br.nr" = bruksnummer;  holding number in the land registry.  This numbering system was introduced in 1838 and revised

in 1886, hence an anachronism in the 1700s. However, since holdings existed before they where numbered, the numbering system

is used to organize the bygdebok. It points towards holding No. 8 at the farm Steinberg as presented in the book.

General warning: ChatGPT is known as a notorious liar.  It can invent people, farms and events that have never taken place.

Thank you Ivar, I really appreciate your help with this.

I'll remember your ChatGPT warning.

I have a question regarding the contents of the bygdebok entry that you helped me with Ivar. Could you or someone with knowledge of property settlement in the 1700s please tell me if it was usual practice when parents died for the property to be split between the sons (as happened in this case with Salve and his brother Jon), or was it more common for the eldest son to inherit the property. I'm trying to understand why Salve was so persistent and spent so much effort and money in trying to claim all of the estate for himself. Maybe he felt he had the right, by custom, to all of the property. Thank you.

It was not unusual to divide a farm in two parts, and the result was very often as you describe it: Trouble between the brothers, and sometimes for generations after them.
