Very hard to read, but looks like it could read Marie E. Andersen... hard to read the age... She dependably listed her age to 8 years difference from Harry... So when he was 40, she was 32 (give or take depending on the birthday fall) This remained constant through all of the censuses I have seen... Furthermore, the headstone reads 1868 as a birth year for Marie E.

As far as the other side of your family, I think I have gone as far as I can. I have checked the people in the Family Search Tree  families about as far as I can and will stop with these people. The Family Search Tree does go further than these two families but I can not find any sources for the people and especially their marriages on either Ancestry.com or DA so I will stop at these two families.

Here is Harry Olsen (Hans Johan Olsen) born 1860 in Arendal. This is my great-great-grandfather on my fathers side.

Update! After much searching, I might have figured out who Marie E. Andersen is. Marie E. Andersen was my great-great-grandmother, married to Hans Johan Olsen (picture above.) They had 6 children in Oakland CA.

Here is the link to her profile: Marie Emilie Andersen

https://www.familysearch.org/tree/person/details/PM41-F2Y

Here is her father: Andreas Andersen 1829-Deceased KD71-2KY

Here is her mother: Marie Elisabeth Ekeroth 1842-Deceased L26L-9FV

So, as thought, she may belong to a Norwegian father, Swedish mother, born in or very near Fredrikshald. It looks like I have traced her mother to western Sweden (Nossemarka), near the border with Norway/Østlandet. Her parents moved back to her home region a few years after her birth. Her and some siblings may have stayed in Norway or traveled together to the US. I have found traces of her coming and going to the US from an early age. I have been hung up on getting her birthdate from any US doc, but they may have never been officially married, can't find a marriage cert. Can't seem to find her immigration or naturalization either, but she may have slipped through the cracks... There are several docs around relating to her confusing immigration/marriage status.

There are other clues as well, but this is the most important part : ) ...I'll relay some more details asap!

Cheers all!

It is a difficult task to find anything out about your Marie Anderson born art 1869 and emigrated in 1890 but I wonder if you have looked at this person. Marie Emilie Andersen

Number 62. Leaving for Sweden October  1889 from Fredrikshald Sogn Halden prestegjeld

Yep, that appears to be her, birth year 1868. That puts her as the child of Andreas Anderson and Marie Elisabeth Ekeroth, from the Berg/Laaby/Fhald crowd (father from Fredrikshald and mother from Nossemark Sweden)  ... who also relocated back to Sweden apparently...

So at some point the family went back to Sweden, but Marie Emilie seemingly went to work in Norway, and eventually over seas... I have lots of leads in the form of passenger lists and and some immigration related docs... but still can't make the link to her in the US.... more to come : )

Parents are pegged as Andreas Andersen from Fredrikshald and Marie Elisabeth Ekeroth of Nossemark Sweden... or some variation of spelling of those parents... As you've seen, they all seem to have gone back to Sweden, but I believe she went to work in Norway, and perhaps overseas... Canada, Wis, Minn, Mass, NY, and especially CA are on the radar. Big question is still when and where they were married, or not married at all.. and her actual immigration path/doc... Eventually meeting Harry Olsen either in Norway before hand, or in transit, or in the US somewhere...

Based on the 1900 Census she emigrated in 1890 and he emigrated in 1901, If correct she left Norway/Sweden arrived in Californa about the same time as he did. One would think that she had some reason for going to Californa?

Is this their first child
