I was hoping that it would be possible to find the marriage record for Harry and Marie but it would appear that they were married before the church started and before the year of their marriage.

Another approach would be to check the baptism records to see if any of the witnesses can be connected back to the bride either in Norway or Sweden. Seems to me that Marie ended up in Oakland for a reason, A friend or relative was already there  and was the reason for her ending up in Oakland and marrying Harry.

One of the witnesses for Harry Andreas born in 1899 is a Miss Olga Ramsey, probably the daughter pf Peter B Ramsey who is traced back to Arendal. Not so surprising. The other witness is a J Koster no further info on him.

Yep, from what I understand, Harry went to the US as early as 15, maybe earlier... His father died at age 5 after all, and he had spent all of his life on the sea... I have leads that need to be organized regarding his movements. So when he left in 1890/91 he apparently already had a home base in Oakland. (I have his actual peacoat and trench coat in my possession.) He worked extensively as a seaman/captain in northern California, and perhaps farther abroad (great lakes/east coast)

Not surprising that Harry gets to the bay area, but why Marie Andersen is a bit harder to figure out.

Agreed... I'm currently working to timeline both of their movements during those years, which will help connect... and hopefully deliver the elusive birthdate proof! : )

My guess is that Mabel was born before this church started  and so the baptism record for her does not exist.

That would be ideal but even finding a relative of the Marei from østfold would go a long way toward giving me some belief that the Marie born in Berg is your Marie.

I have not found the baptism records for the other children in the ELCA records for Central Lutheran

Yep, this is my great grandmother, who I knew as a child. To the entire family, she was known only by the nickname "Honey", or Grandma Honey. She was married to sailor/engineer Roy Franklin Taylor, my beloved great grandfather, who I also knew, and who gives me the Taylor name.

Here's a random immigration find regarding Marie Andersen, at age 21 entering the US,  estimating her birth year then to be 1868, also states her to be a US citizen, servant... more to come.. : )

This is likely the same Marie Andersen leaving Norway. Residence is listed as Tøckfors and emigration is to Hutchinson Minn. Just below Marie Andersen on your  list and on the record posted below is a Alvilde Johnsen. Ship is also the Germanic.

Here's a possible birth cert for the Alvilde Johnsen... perhaps aka Alvilde Johanne Johnsen... born 1869 ...coincidentally, there is a Johanna Johansen listed as mother on the marriage cert above...

Here is strange find, listing a child born to a Sjøman Hans Olsen and Marie Olsen, staying in Solheim during that time... perhaps another coincidence, but Harry and Marie named their 5th child "Eva Alma" ...Eva being a translation for Ovidia.

And another misc. possible connection: This is a voter registration list from Boston, for a Marie E. Olsen... Possible that the family had rentals, or kept residence in various cities for Harry's work or for investment. This list shows her as 34 years old, but that is also the street number of the home. The remarks on the list, and the place of birth being "Norway Sweden" in intriguing.

Yes we met her on page one as the sister of Harry J Olson. Name is Inga or Ingaborg Olsen and married to Peder Wold

Now if we could find some relations of or friends of Marie Andersen we might be able to make some progress.
