Ok, last random ship link for now: This one comes up for the SS Brittanic Marie E. Andersen, but coincidentally on the next page for SS Celtic, there is a Hans Johan, with Bjorndal attached to the name... Possible that he put his current place of residence after his name? Longshot I know...

These two records are very likely  your Harry J Olsen from Oakland.

I have been trying to find a connection between Marie Andersen and Hans Johan Olsen in Norway or his life as Harry J Olson in Oakland Ca, So far I have not had any  success. You seem to prefer this family as the most likely parents of Marie E Andersen.

There are several Family Trees for this family. There is a fairly good one on Ancestry.com but does not have Marie married

This was finally found through ancestry, showing Hans John (Johan) Olsen and Marie Emilie Anderson (Andersen) in their local newspaper under Marriage Licenses. The ages are exactly correct, according to their assumed birthdays. Other data match as well, such as 'year of their marriage" as stated on several census', and location of their home in Oakland. More to come : )

This link is actually a death record for an Alvilde Johanna Johnsen born 1869 died in 1890 in ostre Aker parish, reported by her mother and the poverty service, unlikely Alvilde traveling 7 trips to America.....

And her middle name.  But what's the date of the paper?  The problem has been that U.S. records have been lacking any exact information to tie Marie to specific records in Norway.  Her marriage record, civil or religious and her death certificate would be asked for.

So, do you think there is enough information to tie this 'Marie' to the 'Marie Emilie Andersen', daughter of Andreas Andersen (NOR) & Marie Elisabeth Ekerot (SWE) of Berg/Fredrikshald? ...given the information found on her through this lengthy thread : )

This is the title. "All California, U.S., Marriage Records from Select Counties, 1850-1941" of the data file. which leads one to believe that you are going to see records but as the last line of the record indicates you are actually looking at what appears to be a index.

Searching this file did not turn up any candidates  "All California, U.S., County Birth, Marriage, and Death Records, 1849-1980"

 

Searching years 1895 plus/minus 10 only turned up births and deaths but no marriages. 

 

No luck with this file either

I have also tried the ELCA data base. There are two churches in Oakland. One called Trinity does not seem to have been started keeping records early enough to be of value.

The other church in Oakland is called Central Lutheran and I used that earlier for some of the children of Harry and wife but was not able to find any marriage for the couple.
