He carried out the first known smallpox vaccinations in Norway. This happened during a smallpox epidemic in 1755, when he was city surgeon in Trondheim. It was an anatomical theater that was part of a royal educational project. Welcome to the forum!
I thought it might be of interest to  to convey some of what can be found in the actual sources (digitally) . Foreigners may have issues using the Net library.

One G. U. Wasmuth, trader in Trondheim, announced March 31 1772 in the newspaper that for a period his wife would be running the business  for him. He  would prefer people whom he owed money to contact her no later by the end of May. https://www.nb.no/items/2144db4f54e06bd32a797cbc460b5bcb?page=1&searchText="Wasmuth"

In January 1773 one Wasmuth annonced that until he left for his estate in Nordland in 4 months, he would be receiving people who sought help against poor eye sight at his home in town. He would be treating poor people for free. https://www.nb.no/items/7455b482eed635ccd7674bdc78557e39?page=3&searchText="Wasmuth"

On the 3rd of April 1773 Georg Ulrich Wasmuth stepped down as the field surgeon of the 3rd Trondheim's National Regiment

Information about his death on July 8th 1800 can be found in the newspapers. His son wrote a short notice which was printed in Trondhjemske Tidender Spetember 19th 1800. https://www.nb.no/items/2acd0f5171669b80de598f05b4033ebf?page=1&searchText="Wasmuth"
He informs the readers that his father had suffered from various ills and weaknesses for several years, eventually succumbing to death due to his weak feet.
(I don't  know if that means he had infections due to poor blood flow, or if he fell and hurt himself.) He retained the ability to speek until a few minutes before his death.

"Nordlandske handelssteder; virke, hverdag, reiseliv, fest":

Apparently HUWW bought the grounds at Skibotten, a marketplace, which had previously been an 'allmenning', that is anyone could use it. There was a court case when he wanted rent for the market stalls. The court deceided that he did not have the right to a rent for the previously built market stalls, but that he could demand rent for any news stalls built. He had a market stall of his own there.  https://www.nb.no/items/df17bdea966e791dbce1a894c2dd0277?page=119&searchText="Ulrich Wasmuth"

He also bought the 'handelsted' (legal place to trade outside towns) Karnes. This source also says that GUWW lived at Lyngsgodset. https://www.nb.no/items/df17bdea966e791dbce1a894c2dd0277?page=333&searchText="Ulrich Wasmuth"

By the way, we'd appreciate if you followed the custom here and used your full name in your profile 🙂 I'm not sure how clear the English version of the forum rules are on this matter - many locals miss the requirements, because they are not stated where a lot of people expect to find them.

I haven't found anything  about his emigration/immigration to Norway. However,  I found another newspaper article, this time from

June 12th 1948 which says he was married a third time. His third wife was called Johanne Sofie Ibsen, nee Randulf. https://www.nb.no/items/c97d73afcf269cd2bc1be40a4a4f9b09?page=1&searchText=Wasmuth
The same newspaper article refers to the field surgeon having a hot temper, which resulted in a court case landing him in jail for a few months. He was lucky to be released that soon,  as the original sentence was for 2 years. It was a pretty serious issue as he had made a planned attacked an unarmed sargeant by the name of Bull with a sabre in 1771. For a laugh the sargeant and a friend  of his had stolen a couple of small birds the suregon had caught. By Wasmuth's own admission there had been no bad blood betweem them before this incident, he'd just experienced a 'paroxysm  that he could not  be responsible for'. Wasmuth had struck the sargeant thrice, once in  the face, once at the elbow, and once at the arm, the last strike severing the artery as the sargeant was trying to defend himself with his hands. Then, as others rushed to, Wasmuth retreated. Wasmuth at  first refused to bind the wounds, then bound them insufficiently to stop the arerial bleeding and went home (just a short walk away). Soon thereafter he was called back as Sargeant was still bleeding profusely. Wasmuth claimed he had only gone home to get medical supplies, and returned to administer aid.
The sargeant had lasting damage from the attack and pressed charges.
At the time the surgeon had a wife and 9 children who were financially dependent on him. Norsk militært tidsskrift (trykt utg.). 1904 Vol. 74 Nr. 6https://www.nb.no/items/5209c3e78bf02068124bce8e7391d42c?page=49&searchText=Wasmuth

While 'surgeon andd mustache cutter' correct, there is an English term (barber surgeon) for the position that Wasmuth held.

(Inger Hohler oversett gjerne!

Lyngen Bygdebok (1976) av Emil Larsen ligger fremme på Nasjonalbiblioteket og kan leses.  På side 94 - 98 står det mye om gården Karanes og Wasmuth.

My somewhat free translation:

A few facts about Oldervik in Ulsfjord and Wasmuth:
The property formerly settled by Otte Hansen in Ytre Oldervik lay unused for a couple of years after his demise in 1766. However, in 1775 the regimental surgeon Georg Henrich  Ulrich Wedich Wasmuth and his wife Anna Røst settled at the property in Oldervik. In 1777 Wasmuth became the owner of the southern half of the estate in Troms, and from 1782 also of the northern half. When the widow of Joen Gabrielsen died in 1778, this property also came into Wasmuth's hands. That way he had become in charge of all of  Ytter Oldervik 1 'pund' 12 'merker' [an evaluation], which he already owned. In 1782/83 Wasmuth moved from Oldervik to Karnes in Lyngen, which had previously been the main seat of the estate.
When Wasmuth left Oldervik in 182, Ytre Oldervik became vacant. The new cottagers were Søren Martinus Michalsen Heggelund 1 'pund' and Gabriel Joensen (son  of Joen Gabrielsen) 12 'mark'.
