Information on Marte Pedersdatter Bjørke (Rekkedal) b 1695. Rekkedal Hjørundfjorden?

Hello Everyone,
I'm trying to find out any further information on my maternal 7th grandmother Marte Pedersdatter Bjørke (Rekkedal) 
b 1695. Rekkedal, Hjørundfjorden
Her line stops, and I haven't been able to locate anything further. 
She died in 1755 in Aakre, Hjørundfjord (ørsta)
Father was Peder Arneson Rekkedal , 1645-1719, and her Mother was unknown Eriksdotter Stokke 1655-1705

It would be easier to help you if you revealed where you found this information and which sources you have checked.

Some of your information may be wrong. How sure is you that this Marte is in your lineage?

 

According to "Hjørundfjordboka" (Strømme and Standal, 1990) vol. 4, p.604 ("Rekedal"),

Marte's mother was from Rekkedal ("N Eriksdotter Rekkedal", while the father was from Stokke ("Peder Arneson Stokke")

(opposite of your information).

"N" and Peder took over the farm after her parents, Erik Jetmundsson (unknown origin) and daughter of Ivar Øye (name unknown).

(Vol. 5, p.110, "Stokke") Peder's father was Arne Pedersson Tryggeset (approx.1615-1697; uncertain years), holding Stokke from approx 1647;

wife unknown.

(vol. 4, p.530, "Tryset") Arne's father was Peder Torsson, (apprx 1570-1635), holding Tryset from approx. 1606.

 

Notice that all of this is based on very sparse sources; some tax lists, "manntal" (census with males only; 1664, 1666, 1701),

"skifte" (division of estate), etc.

Existing Church records begins in 1733 (with limited information content).

Thanks for your help, Ivar. I found the sources on Ancestry and Geni. The line was completed, as far as I know, by a cousin who had access to the records. I've been trying to go back through my maternal line as much as possible, and this is the main block that I haven't been able to get through.

I may be correct. However, even with access to records, a link in the lineage can be uncertain.

 

In the parish registry ("kyrkjebok") of Hjørundfjord:

For married couples, the (full) names of the fathers are included from 1830. Before that, only patronymicons are included.

For baptized children, the full name of the father seems to be included from 1733; the mother's name is included from 1752

(this is quite early; for neighbouring Volda and Ørsta, only patronymicon of the child is included before 1802)

 

When you go before the 1733, there are few sources, as mentioned - especially for whomen/mothers.

"We find no other alternative" appears to be the basis of many links. But not all people are recorded in a (surviving) source.
