Ny tråd, forts. av "Verifisering av utvandrere"

Etter anmodning prøver jeg med flere navn på utvandrere fra Norge,

som finnes vedlagt fra Elling Ramsey's bok "The neighborhood that was".

Problemet her er at skjemaet ikke kan formidle mer en en side av gangen

i avsnittet på ca 20 sider i boken.

Som boken sier, kjente alle hverandre for hundreogfemti år siden i dette 

lille gårdssamfunnet, - ved hjelp av fornavn/kallenavn, i Winnieshiek county, Iowa.

Kanskje amerikanske folketellinger kan kaste lys over hvem som bodde

på disse nabogårdene?

Hun giftet seg med Louis Gudbrandsen Aarnes i 1884 (se under). Han skal være f. ombord på skip på vei til USA i desember i 1852 eller 1853. Foreldre var Gulbrand Gulbrandsen Aarness (1817 - 1911) - visstnok f. i Hakadal, Akershus og død i Decorah, Iowa og Sigrid Larsdatter (1818 - 1911) - oppl. iflg familietre hos Ancestry.

Funeral services for Mrs. Martha Ramsey, 79, were conducted Sunday by the Rev. R. A. Ofstedal at the First Lutheran church and burial was made in the Washington Prairie cemetery. Mrs. Ramsey died Friday following a protracted illness. She was a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Nelson Volding, early Winneshiek county settlers, born April 2. 1870, on a farm near Decorah. She married Bottolf Ramsey on May 24, 1892, and with him lived on a farm until they moved to Decorah about 40 years ago. She is survived by her daughter, Ella Ramsey of Decorah, and one brother, Claus N. Volding of Park Ridge, Ill.

Nels E. Ramsey, 79, died Friday at the Aase Haugen Home for the Aged where he had been a resident for several years. Mr. Ramsey had risen and started for the bathroom. Mistaking the door to the elevator shaft for the bathroom door, he opened it and stepped into the shaft, suffering injuries which caused his death. Mr. was born Feb. 22, 1859, Ramseym south of Decorah. His parents were Elling and Aase Ramsey, among the earliest of the Norwegian pioneers of Winneshiek county. He was married May 28, 1885, to Marit Kvale, a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J. Kvale, another pioneer couple. During the greater part of his life Mr. Ramsey engaged in farming. Surviving are his wife and three adopted, children, Mrs. Amelia Berg, John Ramsey and Mrs. Roy Halvorson, all of Decorah. He is also by three sisters, Mrs. Henry Prastmark of Detroit Lakes, Minn. Funeral services will be held Monday ate the Washington Prairie Lutheran church.

Funeral services were at the Washington Prairie Lutheran church for Mrs. Milla Ramsey, 61, who died Thursday in St. Paul at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Rudolph Gutzemann. The Rev. O. E. Engebretson was to officiate. Mrs. Ramsey was born Feb, 23, 1883. She was married Sept. 12, 1901, to Peter Ramsey, who preceded her in death. She is survived by 8 children: Capt. Elling E. Ramsey, an army chaplain stationed in England; Mrs. Rudolph Gutzemann, St. Paul; Aaron and Mrs. Marjorie Tollefson, Decorah; Peter, in the merchant marine; Edward, a petty officer, second class in the navy; and Valborg and Helen, Tula Lake, Cal. Also surviving are one sister, Mrs. Carl Erickson, Detroit; and 2 brothers, Arthur Lynne, Decorah; and Gustav Lynne, California. Hold Funeral Service for Ridgeway Banker were held at the home and at the Ridgeway Methodist church Monday afternoon.
