2 søsken Haverstadløkken til USA

Lars Hansen Haverstadløkken (født 19/02-1858) og søsteren Randine Hansdatter Haverstadløkken (født 29/02-1864) utvandret begge til Nord-Amerika, trolig USA. De var født og oppvokst i Sør-Fron kommune i Gudbrandsdalen. 

 

Da faren, husmann og enkemann Hans Jensen Haverstadløkken, døde i en alder av 73 år i 1901, opplyser dødsfallprotokollen at Lars og Randine oppholder seg i Amerika. 

 

En sekundærkilde oppgir at Randine bor i Vardø i 1900 og at hun er død i 1920. Dette må være en sammenblanding med en annen Randine. "Min" Randine emigrerte til USA.

BORNE TO GRAVE BY HER SIX SONS
Mother Olstad Obsequies Took Place on Thursday, May 26th

 

The funeral of the late Mrs. Dena Olstad, beloved wife of Ole T. Olstad,took place last Thursday, May 26. Brief services were held at the Lutheran Free church at Willmar at 1:30 and at 2:30. The cortege arrived at the St. John's church where the service was held. Rev. Nicolay Nilsen officiated. The six sons were the pall bearers: Magnus Olstad of Benson, Chris Olstad of St. Johns, Olai, Thorwold, Julius and Harold Olstad of Wilmar. The interment took place at the-St. Johns church yard.

 

Mrs. Dena (Hanson) Olstad was born at Sondre Fron, Gulbrandsdalen, Norway, Feb. 29, 1864. At the age of 19 she came to this country arriving at Norway Lake where she had acquaintances. She later came to Willmar and worked at the Glarum hotel. Fortythree years ago she was married to Ole T. Olstad and they settled on the farm in St. Johns township. Twelve years ago they moved to Willmar and have resided at 937 First St. Since last August the deceased underwent three operations at the Fairview hospital at Minneapolis. Two months ago she was taken to her home where the end came at 10 a. in. Monday, May 23rd.

 

She is mourned by the husband, six sons as mentioned above, one daughter, Mrs. Mary Olson of Willmar, a brother, Ole Locken of Mobridge. S. D., two sisters, Hanna and Anna, and one brother, Johannes Locken of Trondhjem, Norway. A daughter, Hanna died at the age of six years. There are seven grandchildren and other relatives. Deceased was a woman of many good qualities. Peace, to her memory!
