What are my chance of finding my ancestors prior to 1600.my search area is Holt&Dypvaag in Nedenes.

I am afraid the chances of finding ancestors prior to 1600 are rather slim. We do not have many records going that far back, and the oldest parish register date back to 1623. If your ancestors were farm owners, they may be found in the tax registers, some of which go back to the 1520s, and others to the 1560s. Families of civil servants may also be traced far back in some cases.If there are "rural chronichles" from the Holt/Dybvaag area (and I must confess I do not know before checking my indexes), there might be some information there from the oldest tax registers.
