Quote:"Johan Jonsson Lindall, Kull #79, V. Torsås, småland, Sweden, 17.06.01 20:21The Johan Jonsson family left Kull in spring 1854 for america. No ship came to Goteborg, so they went to Christiania. there they found a sailing bark leaving for AMerica. It went to Canada. There was cholera aboard and two of Johan Jonsson's children died and one little girl was born at sea. Can anyone help with the ship or confirm a sailing. I have no kallkod." REPLY:To emigrate from Norway to America by way of Canada and Quebeck was the most common route of emigration in the period 1854 to 1865. 94 % of all Norwegians with the intent of settling in the US arrived in Quebeck, and then went by train to their planned destination in the US. Unfortunately, no records of immigration to Quebeck prior to 1865 exist today.Regards, Torun S.
