Hello Forum Members: My grandfather John Johnsen (Johannes Johannessen) of Sorhelle, Vest Adger had two sisters named Amalie. The first on Elone Amalia died just before the 1865 census. His second sister Eline Amalia born in 1869 in Sorhelle, baptized in Kvinesdal did not appear with the family in the 1875 census. From family members I heard that Grandpa went back to Norway in 1907 to visit his "sisters" in Grimstad and the name of one was Emilie Endriesen. John's father married a woman after his wife died and they had a daughter Alida reported born in Fjaere in 1892. Alida was with her parents in 1900, but soomething could have happened to them. Some thought that Emilie's daughter was Ilida. There is a picture of John with his "sisters" from 1907. It all works if Eline Amalie Endresen found in the Digitalarkievet 1900 telling for Grimstad. The problem is her date of birth. It says 1876, when the kirke record says 1869. Was it common for birthdates to be that far off? Now, where can I go on the net to take me further with Eline Amalie Endresen and her family. In 1900 there are only daughters listed. I have looked in Sogn i FjaerePraestegjeld vestre Nedenas Provsti for Grimstad and the only thing I found was where Amalee Endresen and Skomaker Hans Endresen were the godparents for Molly Berta Amalee Gyland who was born in February 1920. Appreciate any suggestions from people in the Fjaere and Grimstad area. Pauline
