Thanks Laila, yes reading Norwegian is no problem, but after too many decades away from Norway and Norwegian, it is more difficult for the brain to generate Norwegian from scratch. Use it or loose it as we say. In my case it is more to get a permanent record at home of unreadable entries in kirkebøker, which then can be manipulated in order to, hopefully, get something readable. Another aim is also to get something which can be e-mailed to relatives and friends for their input to the interpretation of the entries. So if a camera can cope with this, a camera purchase may be worth while.Mvh Vidar

Taking a picture from a reader screen -- I have done this and it works quite well. I do have a good digital camera, so that may explain part of my good luck. In case you need any more encouragement to invest in such a camera, another thing that it does well is take a picture of an old picture. There are old pictures you may see at someone's home that they won't part with, but they usually will let you take a picture of it.
