Mary-Ann Sorry, I can't write to you in Norwegian. I don't know how common the name HERSVIK is in Norway, but it is not a common name here in Canada. There was a fellow by the name Andrias O. Hersvik (1873-1951) from Norway who lived in this area of Canada. If you think that Andrias was a relative of yours and you would like to know a little more about him, I have a few details.Pearl D.

Dear Mary-AnnI have since checked to see how common the name Hersvik is in Canada. There is no one with that surname in all of Canada at the present time, at least none with a telephone listing. I also cheched the Emigrants of Bergen and found Andreas Olsen Hersvik #40095, born 1877 at Sulen, who left Norway in 1899 and again in 1911 (#71148 Andreas O. Hersvik). I believe this is the same fellow who farmed near here in central Saskatchewan.Pearl

Dear Pearl, I just saw your message to Mary-Ann.Andreas, born 27.02.1877, I believe is the son of Ola Andersson Hersvik (36 years old in 1865) and Henrikke Jakobdtr. Rognoen, and came from the farm close(st) to the farm where my father (and grandfather, etc.) was born. There's not much information about Andreas, except that he went to the US in 1899 and 1911.Do you have any information whether he was married, had any childrens, what he did for living, where he died, etc.? Dear Gisle, Glad to hear from you! I can answer all of your questions. Andreas never married and had no children. He was a farmer here on the prairies in Southern Saskatchewan, Canada. He died in 1951 at a little town called Lucky Lake, Sask.Will email you. Pearl
