Jens Andreas Jensen was born in Bergen in 1842. He married my GGrandmother, Anna Dorothea in the 1880's. She was 18 years younger than he. The story goes that he was married before and his first wife's name was Anna. When Anna Dorothea told him he was too old to married her, he said his first wife was Anna and his second wife would be Anna. From papers of either his confirmation or birth, I learn that his father's name was Andreas Jensen and his mother's name looks like it says Thoren or Thorin. I can find nothing on these people anywhere. Does anyone have records from Bergen showing these names?Best regards,Jorunn Lindzén

There are several male persons named Jens Andreas born in Bergen in and around 1842, but this one appears to match the best:Jens Andreas Jensen, born July 24, 1842, christened Aug. 7, 1842 at the New church in Bergen. Parents: Gesell (small merchant) Andreas Jensen and Karen Danielsdatter. However, I fail to find any marriage records for this Jens Andreas Jensen in Bergen. Do you know where he married his 1st and/or 2nd wives?Sincerely yours,Lars E. OYANE

Lars, Wow! That's incredible. I have been searching for so long. In front of me, I have a small document (Fodtrætnings Seddel)? It is for Jens Andreas Jensen født i Nykirkens Præstegjeld den 24 Juli 1842 af ??? Rode i Bergen Byer. So, this must be who you have found. Also, I have two documents dated 1858, one I believe is from his Konfirmation. It must be that in the old letters, a K looked like a TH or KH. Now I can see it could be Karen.Jens Andreas Jensen lived with his second wife Anna Dorothea in Trefoldighets parish in Kristiania and I believe they would have been married in that area since she was apparently born in Asker (Sjesmo). I don't have any information on the first wife except that her name was Anna and she died before he married his second wife.Best regards, Jorunn

You'll find Anna(e) Dorthea, born 1859, in 1875 census, Skedsmo. Click "Source categories" and then "Censuses" to find Skedsmo.

Hello. In the 1865 census in Stavanger, there lives a Jens Andreas Jensen born 1841 i Bergen. He lives in the Uhrens rode. And at the same place it lives a Anna Rasmussen born 1848. If this is the same Jens Andreas they may have been married in StavangerGood luck.Regards Magne Pettersen

This is very interesting as it seems that Jens Andreas' brother Johan Herman settled in Stavanger marrying a woman named Ingeborg and having at least 3 children, so it could very well be the same Jens Andreas.Best regards,Jorunn

This I have to share! As I researched the children of the above mentioned Andreas Jensen and Karen Danielsdatter, I found that Andrea Caroline had married in Carl Johan Hille 1864 in Bergen. I checked http://www.rhd.uit.no/folketellinger_avansert.html for Andrea Hille in 1875 and I found Andrea Karoline Hille living with her daughter Karen at 65B Akersgate! This is the building my Grandfather, Jens Andreas Jensen lived in when I was a child. He inherited the building from his father. Now to try and find out how Andreas came to own the building and what was the connection with this building in 1875. I believe the building was constructed in 1865 or 1868 if my memory serves me correctly. It still stands today mostly with businesses occupying it's suites.Jorunn
