A line of my ancestors supposedly came from Eidsvold - at least I think it was Eidsvold. I've seen it spelled Ashwalt (phonetic?) and Eidswold. This is a rather large region north of Oslo, correct? Is it also a smaller parish? A relative mentioned that his ancestor was buried in the Eidsvold cemetery. Is there such a place?My ancestors, Nels and Oveda Stave, immigrated to MN with their son Oscar Nelson around 1880. Supposedly, they were originally from Eidsvold, but lived in Stavern for a time - hence the name Stave. Nels had a half-brother Hans Nelson who immigrated to Keewatin, Ontario in 1898 after his wife died in 1897. She is the one who is supposedly buried in the 'Eidsvold cemetery'. Interestingly, Hans was known in Keewatin as 'Hans Nelson Hansen' because his sons, who immigrated at least a decade earlier, were known by the surname Hansen.Melissa

Eidsvoll is a parish in Akershus fylke (county) My data:Karen Johanne Johnsdatter, Olsrud in Eidsvoll, b. 30 March 1837, d. in Larvik (Vestfold county) 5 May 1897 m.1861 Hans Nilsen (Nelson), Sagmoen Stavi, b. 26 Dec.1837., (his father was Nils Hansen) They moved from Eidsvoll to Larvik in 1873. 24 june 1898 Hans and the two youngest sons left on 'Angelo' from Oslo route Quebec (Ontario).
