Record 897 of 1262/5797 has incorrect spelling of Surname.The surname is 'Frømyr' not Fredmyr.This is my grandfather from Kongsberg.Cheers...Greg Fromyhr

The spelling of Norwegian names has not been consistent. Some names have been written with 15-20 different spellings over the centuries. The 'correct' spelling in the webversion of the 1900 census is the spelling used in the original, not the spelling used to-day. 'Frømyr' could very well be spelled 'Fredmyr' in the census lists. Only the original list can tell us whether or not that is the fact. In this case the original list is kept at Statsarkivet i Kongsberg. I would be very surprised if the spelling in the original would not be 'Fredmyr' in this case.
